3 A company with tradition Since 1947 the company Hans Klotz GmbH and the daughter company Fruity GmbH have been in the fruit sector in Europe. In 2009, it was decided in addition to fresh produce to enter into fruit processing and in 2010 we built one of the most modern plants in Europe where we produce juices and purées. In 2014, a fully automatic pouch filling engine was built with a capacity of 7500 pouches per hour. This decision was made to guarantee our producers a decrease of the total harvest and to create a vertical production. The head office is in Bolzano, where the purchase and sale, the administration, marketing and logistics are organised. In the fruit processing plant in Val di Non, the production, quality control, the analysis of raw materials and finished products, processing and packaging of juices and purees take place, as well as the storage and loading of the goods. 3

The superb quality of the fruit is essential to produce our high quality products. Apples and pears from the region Trentino-South Tyrol or peaches, apricots and kiwis from the best producing areas of Italy, for example lake Garda, Emilia Romagna or Piemont: only fresh, mature and untainted fruit, according to Globalgap guidelines are used for our products. They are the basis for our high quality direct juices (NFC-juices: not from concentrate) and fruit pulp products. 4

8 Processing of raw materials The raw materials are delivered in bulk bins to avoid damage. We check the quality at the entrance and take samples. We provide our customers with security through traceability throughout every production stage and process. The goods are then processed into juice or puree as needed and stored in our fully automatically controlled and refrigerated, aseptic storage tank. The quality remains constant throughout the year. Finally we package them into pouches or bag in box. 8

All fruit handling, from the delivery to the selection, is done on the conveyor belt without using any water.

9 Production steps In order to safeguard the product quality, the fruit is only delivered and processed in bulk bins. This process gives the possibility to handle the product keeping intact all its characteristics in the best hygienic conditions and avoiding any juice loss. All fruit handling, from the delivery to the selection, is done on the conveyor belt without using any water. This reduces the amount of water used, prevents microorganism proliferation and microbic contamination of the fruit. At the end of the conveyor belt there is a high pressure machine that washes and cleans all of the fruit. The fruit is then pushed in a mill that processes it into pulp, juice and puree. The unique technologies used give a very dense fruit puree. Thanks to the company s machinery, the product undergoes only one pasteurization process until it is packaged aseptically, in order to guarantee unaltered organoleptic fruit characteristics. The product is preserved in aseptic, refrigerated and automatically controlled tanks, which allow a constant and homogeneous quality preservation of the product. 9

Pouch production The various fruit and vegetable purees are pumped into the mixing container and mixed thoroughly to give a homogenous mixture.

The energy balance of the pouch is better than glass, as they are much lighter than glass.

Now the pouches are weighed automatically and sorted out with differences. Now our pouches are heated at 90 C for 10 minutes.

10 Pouch production The various fruit and vegetable purees are pumped into the mixing container and mixed thoroughly to give a homogenous mixture. This mixture is then heated to the desired temperature and pumped to a small buffer tank. Meanwhile, the pouch is welded to the so-called "spout". Our pouches consist of three layers. The energy balance of the pouch is better than glass, as they are much lighter than glass. The heated puree is then dispensed into the pouch and these are sealed airtight, we print the expiration date and traceability number on the back of the pouch. Now the pouches are weighed automatically and sorted out with differences. Now our pouches are heated at 90 C for 10 minutes. Here, the bags are again pasteurized to prevent microbiological contamination. After heating, the pouches are cooled for 20 minutes at about 0 C in cold air to about 30 C and, finally we pack them in different packages. Bag in Box production After the fruit has been crushed, the mash is pressed through a belt press. The juice will immediately be heated, centrifuged and stored at 4 C in sterile tanks. From there, the aseptic bags are then bottled, depending on the needs and wishes of the customer in 3 litre, 5 litre and 10 litre bags. The bags are then placed in cartons and palletised. 10

Energy savings: An up-to-date computerized control system allows us to constantly monitor temperature, humidity, oxygen and CO2 values, thus preserving the natural freshness of our fruit.

Our desire to develop an eco-sustainable program is the hallmark of our daily actions. Energy savings: An up-to-date computerized control system allows us to constantly monitor temperature, humidity, oxygen and CO2 values, thus preserving the natural freshness of our fruit. Solar panels fully integrated in our roof provide 60-70% of our energy, thus greatly reducing CO2 gas emission. Low environmental impact of the structure and equipment: Use of "glycol" as coolant. Rainwater is collected from the roof, filtered, and then reused in the company processes. Reduction of internal and external noises. All our packaging is 100% recyclable. Our cold store rooms are manufactured using panels free of CFCs and HFCs, chemicals contributing to ozone layer depletion. 14
