It is crafted to resemble classic Alsatian style dry Rieslings. Our go to for sushi and Thanksgiving. Our suspicion is that it will age beautifully for upwards of twenty years. 2 2018 PEARL SAUVIGNON BLANC Aromas of stargazer lilies, lemon oil, honeysuckle and dusty stone. Zesty and crisp with flavors of cut grass and minerals leading to passion fruit, kiwi, lime zest, and tarragon. Cooler sites at Oasis, Olsen and Gamache Vineyards give us the natural acidity that makes Pearl a fresh and delicious gustatory experience. Food pairing: anything from the ocean, but oysters for sure. Shigokus and kushis are the best. Movie pairing: The Wizard of Oz Pearl was Kelly's first solo wine project, spawned in 2009 from her love of New Zealand Sauvignon Blancs. Pearl was named in honor of Kelly's great grandmother who drove around in a pearl Cadillac convertible and drank Tennessee whiskey. The style is at once mineral and fruit driven, as if Sancerre and New Zealand made a Sauvignon Blanc baby. The 2011 scored a 92 from Wine Enthusiast. 3 2017 APPARITION ROUSSANNE BLEND An exotic nose of Asian spice, paraffin and marzipan leads to layers of rich stonefruit with honey, lychee, and lemony herbs. Balanced and satisfying with a lengthy finish of crushed rock acidity. Alchemy at its finest. Meshing the richness of Olsen Estate Roussanne with the ethereal mineral old school earthiness of Boushey Vineyard Marsanne delivers a complex and riveting blend made to enjoy right now and age for many years. Apparition was born as a gift to our wine club in 2011, a 100% Roussanne raised in neutral oak with no malolactic fermentation. The intention was to emulate the great white wines of the Rhône Valley by producing a focused, mineral driven, yet textured and age worthy beauty. As with many of our wines, Apparition was named for something that was happening in our family at the time. Harry Potter was big at that time. Still is. 4 2016 LUMIÈRE CHARDONNAY Sourced from a cooler site in the Frenchman Hills on the Royal Slope, Lumière is crafted using wild yeast fermentations, weekly battonage, and special cooperage. The nose is marked by white flowers, stone fruit and honeysuckle balanced against fresh flavors of lemongrass, fig, crushed stone and Granny Smith apple. An elegant, well-balanced chardonnay reminiscent of cool site White Burgundy, Lumière is delicious now, but designed to age for many years. Ah, Lumière. We love crisp, clean chardonnay produced in cooler sites and aged with judicious oak influence, such as we've enjoyed from producers in villages such as Chassagne Montrachet and from California producers like Stony Hill. Lumière is our attempt to deliver that kind of chardonnay experience. Best enjoyed with little pieces of Dungeness crab all over your face and lemon butter dripping off your chin. First produced in 2005, the older vintages are drinking beautifully still. 5 2016 enlightenment CHARDONNAY In 1991 The Olsen Family planted chardonnay, probably a Wente Clone, in the Yakima Valley as we watched on TV as Desert Storm bombs fell on Iraq, apartheid ended in South Africa and the Soviet Union finally disintegrated. Seems like such a long time ago. 27 years later those old vines continue to produce special chardonnay, with which we make enlightenment. Through extended barrel aging, we gain added textural bigness(!), while retaining balance and freshness. Crème brulée, honeysuckle and sweet vanilla explode on the nose, followed by hints of honey, hay and white flowers, leading to a Rubenesque, silky texture full of baked apple pie, marzipan and crushed stone. enlightenment was a response to some of our followers' suggestion that we make a richer, extended barrel aged chardonnay based more on the late 1990s California version of chardonnay. Cougar juice it has been called. Full throttle, unapologetically buttery and oaky, enlightenment, first produced in 2011 from old vines, takes more time and is more costly to produce. With scores of 90 and 91 from Wine Spectator and Wine Enthusiast, it seems we may have hit the mark. 6 2018 this old porch ROSÉ Minerally, bone dry, bright, and loaded with aromas of wild strawberries and white flowers. Flavors are led by strawberries, guava and stone fruit. Enjoy with a multiplicity of different foodstuffs. Or with a stringed instrument on a creaky porch. Food pairing: whatever the hell you want, so versatile. Movie pairing: American Beauty this old porch is a song that Robert Earl Keen and Lyle Lovett wrote together in college at Texas A&M. Also a great place to drink rosé. Ours is bone dry, full of flowers and luscious red fruit flavors. It's not from Provence, but is very much intended to drink like it is. In 2009 we decided to stop pouring beautiful saignée down the drain and instead make one of, if not the, most versatile wines in our portfolio. 7 2015 L AUTRE PINOT NOIR L Autre is grown at Temperance Hill Vineyard in Oregon s Willamette Valley, a bit higher elevation and thus cooler site that delivers a vibrant, restrained, age worthy style. About 20% whole cluster fermentation adds a little funkiness, some structure and spice to its crushed raspberry, strawberry, cinnamon stick goodness. We suspect that once it reaches middle age it too will act like a proper Burgundy in some ways. In our broad rambling portfolio it is clearly The Other. In 2009 we were able to source some lovely pinot noir from Temperance Hill Vineyard (thanks Dai) in the Willamette Valley to make L'Autre. Mostly because we love pinot noir, especially from Burgundy, and this plays like that, producing elegant, nuanced, age worthy, earthy, haunting wines that make us happy. Severely limited each vintage. We called it L'Autre and outfitted it with a red label because it is truly an outlier from another state and another state of mind. 8 2017 WONDERLAND GRENACHE Mad Hatter: Have I gone mad? Alice: I m afraid so. You re entirely bonkers. But I ll tell you a secret. All the best people are. Food pairing: Barbecue, which is a noun, or wild mushroom cassoulet Movie pairing: Alice in Wonderland, duh Roses, red raspberry, wild strawberry, sandalwood, and cinnamon stick explode on the nose. Polished, vibrant and elegantly complex, with cinnamon, orange peel, raspberries, Rainier cherries, barrel smoke, allspice and vanilla flavors that gain richness on the finish. Madness in a good way. Wonderland was first produced in 2010 as a wine club only limited release and was named at our family dinner table during a period when the girls were both part of a theatre production of Alice in Wonderland. 9 2015 DARKNESS SYRAH 2015, captured in the bottle, is on first blush, a most decadent and imposing thing. Deep, brooding, opaque and incredibly dark and unctuous. Yet again Willy Wonka and his tribe of Oompa Loompas brewed an insanely scrumptious rendition of Darkness. Almost black, this syrah shaped predator is jammed with blackberry, black olive, black pepper and smoky, gamey earth. As lush as it is, its acidity provides lift and balance, shaping its fine tannins into a seamless mouthful of pure silky syrah. Darkness is our full throttle, wide-open desert island syrah from the Yakima Valley. Dick Boushey and Leif Olsen are arguably among the finest syrah growers in our universe today. We decided to make this wine in 2005 and have never looked back. It has gobs of high scores from many publications, including a 94 from Robert Parker's Wine Advocate for the It's called Darkness because. 10 2014 RUCKUS SYRAH A classic Northern Rhône styled syrah, with a dash of viognier in the fermentation adding floral elements, Ruckus is pure, powerful and focused. Aromas of fresh blackberries, ganache, wild game, graphite and petrichor lead to densely layered blackberry, plum, black currant reduction flavors and Turkish coffee and smoldering alder hints on the very long finish. Youthful and vibrant now but built for the long haul. Once upon a time there was a syrah called Stella Mae. As demand for syrah began to taper off a bit, we decided in our third vintage to align our girls' wines on either side of the Gironde, even though it is nowhere near Woodinville in the name of family harmony. So, in 2006, we made Ruckus, our Red Mountain syrah blended with a touch of cabernet sauvignon. 11 2014 RUBY LEIGH Ruby Leigh is a gorgeous ballet, offering a simultaneously loamy and creamy mouthfeel, seamless layers of red and black currant, cherry, raspberry and blackberry fruit, and a long, smoke laced finish that features lovely hints of black tea and incense. The fruit and earth shine in this broad, deep and defined style. Anise and tobacco notes fill out the finish, which expands steadily with air, showing added range and echoes of bittersweet cocoa and tobacco. Destined for a remarkable long, expressive life. The wine too. Ruby Leigh is an extraordinary young lady, gifted of many artistic and conceptual talents. Hers is a spirit from the wild places in the cosmos, restless and searching for light and experience. One of the Three Original Wines, it has, since its inception in 2004, been driven by merlot and cabernet franc, supported by malbec and cabernet sauvignon. Like our daughter, each vintage of Ruby Leigh is a classic, lovely and vibrant in its youth and undoubtedly astounding in its evolution. 12 2014 STELLA MAE Stella Mae is a theatrical performance of velvety deliciousness, with stunning length, as layers of creamy plum, blackberry coulis and black currant fruit glide effortlessly along, seamlessly intertwined with black tea, blood orange, incense and lilac. Hints of mesquite and alder hang subtly in the background, and the structure, balanced and elegant, has melded dramatically. Like its namesake, this classic left bank blend is deeply contemplative, expressive and joyous. Let the show begin! Stella Mae is our first collaborative creation and our secret genius, covertly molding our family through deep reflection and a thirst for knowledge and artistic expression. A syrah for the 2004 and 2005 vintages, Stella Mae became a cabernet sauvignon focused classic Bordeaux blend in 2006, as we sought to align the girls' wines in the name of peace and harmony at the kitchen table. 13 2014 EVERMORE CABERNET SAUVIGNON Evermore is once again a fusion of old and new world, as truffles pour from the glass, all funky and rich, with cedar, sage, violets, mocha, cassis, and blackberry dancing on the nose. Emerging on the finely polished palate is a tapestry of fine herbs, black cherry, black currant, cigar box, pencil shavings and crushed stone. Designed and crafted to enjoy a lengthy life journey, this 100% cabernet sauvignon is ready to roll right now. From vines planted in 1972 at the impeccably managed Dionysus Vineyard. If they made 100% cabernet sauvignon in Pauillac, it might taste a lot like Evermore. In 2012 we joined the Sagemoor Farms family, sourcing fruit from both Bacchus and Dionysus Vineyards. We imagined the Block 16A cabernet sauvignon, planted in 1972, making it one of Washington State's oldest blocks, to be a fine addition to our portfolio, perhaps as a blending component to one of our existing cabs. However, there were six barrels that stood out and we decided to bottle those together and launch Evermore, our Old Vines cabernet sauvignon. 14 2014 KINGPIN CABERNET SAUVIGNON Massive velvety Cabernet Sauvignon from Klipsun, Kiona and Obelisco Vineyards on Red Mountain and a touch of high elevation Olsen Vineyard Petit Verdot provide Kingpin with its hedonistic richness, depth and power. An expansive nose of dark chocolate, black currants, black cherry, black plum, violets, cigar box and cedar drives this beauty to a flavor bonanza of black fruits, mocha, cinnamon and minerals. Built to deliver the goods in its youth and to evolve beautifully for decades. Launched in 2006, Kingpin celebrates the raw power and intensity of Red Mountains's iconic Klipsun Vineyard. Although we have no definitive conclusion on its ultimate life span due to the fact that we have only made it for 10 years or so and have none even beginning to peak, we suspect this is a wine that can be enjoyed for at least 30 years, if not many more. 15 2015 RAINMAKER CABERNET SAUVIGNON Holy sh*t Rainmaker is like coating your mouth with a cabernet sauvignon and malbec flavored creamsicle. Sorta. Lush, deep and chewy, swarming with all manner of black fruits from the cab template. Currants, berries, cherries, you name it. Layers of fig and plum, black olive, licorice and vanilla. And on and on. A striking version from a perhaps the most powerful vintage in our history. Lordy. Rainmaker began life as a wine club offering in It has evolved to become our most fruit forward cabernet sauvignon, blended with malbec. The Yakima Valley is the source for all the fruit in this cuvée, most often it is from Olsen's extraordinary vineyards just west of Red Mountain. We named this wine Rainmaker during a conversation about what it means to be running a business with Chris's Dad. We poured the 93 point 2013 at Wine Spectator's New York Wine Experience in We were at a booth between Chateaux Margaux, Lynch Bages and Mouton Rothchild. And we belonged there.. 16 2016 HOLLER CABERNET SAUVIGNON Polished, supple, sleek, then unfolds into a lyrical dance of layers, textures, aromas, flavors and a long silky finish. Classic cabernet sauvignon: cassis, black cherry, herbs, cigar box, tea leaf, and dark chocolate rise and fall in this chorus of lovely balanced Washington State Bordeaux varietals. First produced in 2012, Holler is named for Red Hollow, the place where Chris's parents live in Knoxville, Tennessee. The theory behind the wine is simple: once the barrels for Kingpin, Rainmaker and Evermore are selected, the remaining barrels (plus some other Bordeaux varietals) become Holler. These barrels are good enough to become the #21 wine in the world on Wine Spectator's 2016 Top 100.This wine heads our over delivery tier, having received a 94 point score for the Tastes great too. 17 2016 YONDER CABERNET FRANC Yonder leads with spice and chocolate, hints of classic violets, tar, vanilla and campfire smoke leading to a core of dense red currant, blackberry and kirsch, and finally to a long seamless and silky finish. Built to enjoy now, but will age for many many years. Food pairing: roasted chanterelle goat cheese tarte tatin Movie pairing: Easy Rider In the middle of the 2012 harvest our GM Bryan Keay told us we needed to make a cab franc because everybody wanted us to. It was frankly, the farthest thing from our intentions. Way way over Yonder. So, the responsive, customer centered company that we are, we talked to lots of our supporters and asked them what wine they wanted that we didn't already make. We had 18 at that point. They all said "Cab Franc!" So we made 125 cases and it sold out in three hours. Good call brother. 18 2016 PREPOSTEROUS MALBEC Pure and richly textured, with expressive blueberry, blackberry, bittersweet chocolate and smoky roasted herb aromas. Intense, supple and concentrated, showing rich, vibrant blueberry jam, plum, black cherry and vanilla bean flavors. A bit of a noble beast, with solid grip, pillowy texture and forever finish. Food pairing: Garlic honey smoked duck or Roasted crimini mushrooms with Maytag blue cheese Movie pairing: Apocalypse Now Preposterous was launched in 2009, a complete shot in the dark. Malbec is a strange thin-skinned on the outside, neon green eyeball on the inside kind of grape that goes black in the fermenter on day three of the fermentation. Kind of odd. Wine Spectator 94 point 2010 vintage is still the highest scoring malbec in Washington State history. Preposterous. 19 2016 OUTLAW MERLOT Outlaw leads with sultry aromas of black cherries, blackberry jam, vanilla, tealeaves, piecrust and licorice. On the palate, rich red and black fruit flavors of plum, bing cherry, blackberry lead to cinnamon, menthol and crème brulée, all supported by silky tannins and a bright, mouthwatering acidity that carries the wine to a how-is-this-still-going-on finish, with hints of maple, cedar and sweet spice. Food pairing: Lamb burgers with boursin or eggplant and porcini Shepherd s pie Movie pairing: Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid One of the Three Original Wines, Outlaw was a single barrel of merlot from Hedges Vineyard in The wine was made to honor Kelly's Dad who suggested that we start a family business when we found out we were going to be parents. Outlaw is not necessarily produced in every vintage, having been released from , 2009, and Because merlot is so damn delicious, we think the producers of the movie Sideways are on their way to hell. 20 2015 UNDERWORLD PETIT VERDOT One of only a handful of Washington State 100% Petit Verdots, Underworld is a dark and brooding (did we mention dark?) wine. Bright and rich, with blackberries violets, vanilla, smoke and pencil shavings erupting from the nose, followed by layers of black raspberry, black plum, cassis, cedar, tar, dark chocolate, and Asian spices. Tee-ninetsey (Grandmother Dell Baby s word) berries struggled on a very steep slope to deliver this very rare wine. Underworld was named for the place that petit verdot holds in a number of our wines. Sorta sits underneath other leading varietals in a beautifully supporting role. Just a tiny bit of adds acidity, color, and flowers. In its 100% varietal bottling, Underworld shows the unique power and intensity of this tiny dark berry. 21 2016 GAGA TOURIGA NACIONAL Gaga is the name of Chris s Mom in her role as Grandmother for Stella and Ruby. It s also our beautiful Touriga Nacional from Upland Estate on Snipes Mountain layered with a pinch of Petite Sirah. Which delivers this big, rich, silky dark beauty, all muscular and ripped. Aromas and flavors of violets, cocoa, blackberry, tobacco, roasted herbs and vanilla are well balanced and persist through an everlasting finish. Like a Grandmother s love, this wine is complete and full. A seriously limited special offering for our Ring of Fire Wine Club members. We started tinkering with Portuguese varietals in 2010 in order to produce a fortified dessert wine, primarily for winemaker dinners. By 2012 we experimented with a dry Ring of Fire Touriga Nacional for our wine club. Bam. So good we did again in 2014 and All kinds of earthy rich aromatic goodness. 22 2016 BABA SANGIOVESE BLEND Baba is the name Kelly s Mom was given when she became Grandmother of Ruby and Stella. It is also our stunning Super Tuscan blend. The 2016 is deep and concentrated, richly textured and lush. Explosive on the attack, with notes of sandalwood, campfire smoke, black cherries, orange peel and crushed rock, the Sangio for the Baba was pressed with La Traviata blaring and pasta on the table. Pretty cool thing, like the deep and abiding love of a Grandmother. A seriously limited special offering for our Ring of Fire Wine Club members. Our first extry Tuscan was produced in 2015 as a wine club exclusive. The Brunello clone of Sangiovese was sourced from Boushey Vineyard in the Yakima Valley. Once the fermentation was dry we loaded the press, turned La Traviata up to eleven, busted up some lasagne and Brunello di Montalcino and let Elvis the Press do the rest. 23 2015 RING OF FIRE PETITE SIRAH Deeply black-purple, brooding like a young bull, yet balanced with ample finesse. Spicy, funky, smoky, dusty, stony on approach with hints of mulberry, blackberry and bacon fat, this year s petite sirah is once again showy. Silky tannins frame sweet vanilla laced black fruits, releasing a beast of power and richness loaded with blackberries, black plums, pepper and Asian spices. Bombastic, unapologetic and a hedonist s baileywick. Another wine club exclusive, our Ring of Fire petite sirah is saturated black spicey richness. The theory here is that petite sirah makes our wilderness just that much more, well, wild. And that with two different blocks in Olsen Vineyard in the Yakima Valley and Kiona Vineyard on Red Mountain, we have five barrels that make a mighty fine varietal durif, AKA petite sirah. 24 2016 KINDRED RED BLEND Fresh and inviting, with aromas of cherry, mocha, plum, barrel spices, anise and herb. The fine tannins, soft and generous, wrap around a core of black cherry, mint, pomegranate and coffee flavors, dancing around the tongue like a crazy thing. Drink today or whenever thirsty. Kindred was first produced in 2008, and is driven by malbec and framed with cabernet sauvignon and merlot. The new label, launched for the 2015 vintage, features an image of a 275 year-old oak tree in McMinnville, Tennessee, where Chris's Dad was born. 25 2016 WILDERNESS RED BLEND Make up your own damn description. In 2005, on an icy cliff in the Horse Heaven Hills with only buzzards and coyotes around to watch, we drove with several barrels of what would become a new red blend, Wilderness. A tribute to our backgrounds in wildlife preservation and environmental policy work, we chose to make this wine an ever evolving, ever changing experiment and challenge to our assumptions of what grapes play best together. Typically produced with a core of syrah and other Rhône varietals, it has nevertheless included seemingly non-dance-partner-like varietals such as cabernet sauvignon, malbec, mourvèdre, tempranillo, sangiovese, petit verdot, petite sirah and probably a few we have since forgotten. 26 2016 HALLELUJAH Wine Spectator Top 100 Wine Enthusiast Top 100 Wine & Spirits Top 100 Portuguese varietals Touriga Nacional and Souzão from Uplands Estate on Snipes Mountain were fermented to 7 brix, and then the fermentation was arrested with 188 proof grape hooch. Aged for 22 months in 25% new French oak. Opaquely black in color, with great balance and length, Hallelujah is hedonistic, balanced, rich and nuanced. The nose is loaded with raisins, exotic flowers and cedar leading to silky flavors of orange liqueur, licorice, blackberry, cherry, caramel, cinnamon, bittersweet chocolate and tobacco. Enjoy for the next 100 years or so. Food Pairing: Stilton on walnut toast, simply. Movie Pairing: A Clockwork Orange We started tinkering with Portuguese varietals in 2010 to make a fortified dessert wine, primarily for winemaker dinners. 50% Touriga Nacional, 50% Souzāo, plus 188 proof grape spirits makes for some pretty deep powerful age worthy deliciousness.
