In normal usage, this corresponds to a lifespan of 10 years, without any visible deterioration of the glass surface. We regret any errors in our specifications for sizes, colours, volumes or prices. 3 HAND-MADE PRODUCT The origin of blown glassware dates back 2000 years. The Romans were the first to use this technique. At RIEDEL, in Kufstein, we exclusively produce glass. Each, item is individually crafted by our master glassmakers. The expertise of these craftsmen guarantees that the quality of each glass meets the high standard for which our brand is known. Because of the hand-crafting, small tolerances in the size and weight of each glass, tiny bubbles/imperfections and slight surface variations are a feature and an acceptable part of the process. 1. 4 SOMMELIERS R-BLACK SERIES (COLLECTOR S EDITION) SOMMELIERS R-BLACK SERIES Black, non-transparent;, and blown into shape using the original molds, the Black Series celebrates this remarkable anniversary. Crystal turns black by adding Cobalt and Manganese to the composition. To raise the bar of glass making further, the stem of Sommeliers R Black Series was upgraded by adding a fine red glass string which is jacketed in clear crystal. Sommeliers Black Series can be used as a drinking vessel but it is primarily considered as an object of beauty gracing the homes of wine collectors. SOMMELIERS BLACK TIE SOMMELIERS BLACK TIE was launched in 2008 to celebrate the 50 th Anniversary of the iconic Sommeliers Burgundy Grand Cru glass. 6 SOMMELIERS SOMMELIERS (1973) Professor Claus J Riedel was the first designer to recognise that the bouquet, taste, balance and finish of wines are affected by the shape of the glass from which they are consumed. In the late 1950s, RIEDEL started to produce glasses which at that time were a design revolution. Thin-blown, unadorned, reducing the design to its essence, bowl, stem, base. Working with experienced tastes, RIEDEL discoverd that wine enjoyed from his glasses showed more depth and better balance than when served in other glasses. In 1961, a revolutionary concept was introduced, when the RIEDEL catalogue featured the first line of wine glasses created in different sizes and shapes. The concept illustrated to perfection with the introduction of the SOMMELIERS series in 1973, which achieved worldwide recognition. A glass was born that turns a sip into a celebration - a wine s best friend - fine-tuned to match the grape! This will ensure maximum development of the wine s bouquet, and also provide the most elegant table setting. 2 3 Holding the glass The appropriately filled glass should always be held by the stem rather than the bowl, as heat from the hand could raise the temperature above its optimum and negatively influence the bouquet of the wine. Swirling the glass Carefully swirling the glass alows oxygen into the wine by increasing its surface area and helps release the wine s rich, mature aroma. 4 5 Why and how to decant wines To decant wine means to transfer it from its bottle to a decanter or carafe before drinking. During storage or aging, wine can develop a solid deposit or sediment at the bottom of the bottle. Decanting is an easy means of separating the sediment from the wine. It also helps the wine breathe, as the greater surface diameter lets more oxygen reach the wine than the bottle does. Red wines should be decanted well before serving and allowed to rest at room temperature for up to one hour to allow the wine to fully develop its bouquet. Wine temperature Before decanting/or serving wine, store it at appropriate temperatures (red wine F, C, white wines at F, C). Unless expressly stated otherwise, all goods are offered lying in Singapore. This price list supersedes all previous price lists. Payment must be made in full upon receipt of invoice, unless the customer has an approved credit account. If so, payment must be made within 30 days of invoice date. All goods remain the property of Cellarmaster Wines (S) Pte Ltd until paid in full. Cellarmaster Wines delivers only in Singapore. Free delivery applies to qualifying orders of at least $350 (excluding taxes). For orders with less than $350 or re-delivery of orders, a shipping charge of $30 will be applicable. Normal delivery is within 48 hours. Cut-off time for next day delivery is 5 pm. Goods sold are non-returnable. However, at our discretion, we will replace defective items if they are deemed to be faulty. You are advised to, and shall be deemed to have inspected all goods upon delivery. Any shortages or damage should be reported immediately (within 48 hours) to Cellarmaster Wines.
