3 Discovery Range 2013 Syrah Bronze London International Wine Challenge 94 Pts Huon Hooke Margaret River Syrah is noteworthy because of its fragrance and attractiveness in it s youth. Aromas of juicy black cherries and boysenberries with a grind of black pepper. The palate possesses a fine grained texture comprising of ripe tannin which adds to the structure and depth of the wine. This style is a coevolution of Modern Australian food and wine culture, which has great emphasis on balance, freshness and hedonistic pleasure. The sustainably farmed vineyard is in the cool southern end of Margaret River. Floris exhibits delicate textures and floral notes reminiscent of white jasmine flowers. 7 Direction Range 2015 RACHIS Syrah Margaret River Syrah is noteworthy because of its fragrance and attractiveness in its youth. A rachis (Latin botanical term) is the stalk to which the individual berries are attached to. This cuvee is so named because of the inclusion of 1/3 whole bunches (rachis) in the cuvee. The rachis contributes perfumes, tannin and flavours additional to the grapes. The heart and soul of Rachis are fully mature Old vines planted in 1978 in the cool south of Margaret River. It is a provocative, complex and textural wine exuding the seductive spirit of old world chardonnay. The vines have been managed to allow only dappled light into the fruiting zone. This promotes flavor development, low tannins and bright levels of natural acidity. The fruit is farmed in the cool southern end of Margaret River. The gravelly soils of the vineyard are flanked by the dominant native hard wood trees named Jarrah. Jarrah trees are a favourable and exact biological indicator that the site is ideally matched to Cabernet Sauvignon. Fruit expression from this site includes violets, cassis and mulberry.
