Tickets $1.00 each or 3 for $2.00. The raffle will be drawn during Sinterklaas Feest on Saturday, 1 December at 12 noon. FOR RESIDENTS INFORMATION Recently a body of work has been done to review the health and wellbeing of our staff, including attending external workshops, research and conducting small staff meetings. Our learning revealed that the increased care needs, particularly in House 3 & 4 are beginning to cause both mental and physical fatigue. In order to minimise this and moving forward we have reviewed our entire roster and made significant changes to the allocation of staff to allow every staff member the opportunity to work across all Houses. Please remain patient with all staff as they learn the different routines in each House. MOVEMBER This year we have a team of staff and one resident who have chosen to take part in Movember, a great fundraising event aimed at Men s Health. To support the team and a great cause please go to https://moteam.co/rembrandt-living?mc=11 or place your donation in the special donation tin at Rembrandt Court Reception.

A compulsory stint in the Dutch army followed at age 20 and this is when he met Fie Stuurman. Joe married his lovely Fie in his military uniform. Joe joined the Wegen Wacht (RAA) and rode a yellow side car. (He currently has a Wegen Wacht badge on his gopher.) Joe emigrated to Australia in August 1957 on the ship Sibajak with Fie and 2 children, later having 2 more children in Australia. For the first twelve months of being in Australia, Joe constructed rural concrete tanks for farmers. He owned the Ampol Service Station in Blackwood before settling into a trucking life. Joe has owned 7 interstate hauling semi-trailers including Commers, Mercedes and a Leyland. Joe drove all the highways of Australia with loads ranging from cars, Kellogg s, Kimberly Clark & Sanitarium products, potatoes, oranges and loads more for 25 years! PHOTO PAGE Annie welcomed her visitors from her home town of Renmark. They enjoyed a very pleasant catch up over lunch in the Kleine Café. Remembrance Day has a special significance in 2018. Sunday, 11 November 2018 marks the 100th anniversary of the Armistice which ended the First World War (1914 18). One hundred years ago, on 11 November 1918, the guns of the Western Front fell silent after four years of continuous warfare. Each year on this day Australians observe one minute s silence at 11am, in memory of those who died or suffered in all wars and armed conflicts. Red Poppies has long been a part of Remembrance Day and is also increasingly being used as part of Anzac Day observances. Channel 2 will be broadcasting the Centenary of Armistice Canberra Service on Television from 10.30am.
