1 Editor: Deb Dutton, CEO, The Windmill Rembrandt Court Issue April 2018 Home Care Hub 1 Madras Street, Oaklands Park SA Greenfields Drive, Green Fields SA 5107 Ph The weekly newsletter of Rembrandt Living Ph FROM THE EDITOR Well, what a big week! The team at Rembrandt Court have had the Government s Aged Care Quality Agency on-site for the 2 days (3 individuals) checking our service according to their strict aged care quality standards. The ladies (despite being very polite and professional) checked absolutely everything...!... from food to care to maintenance to lifestyle to medication to our staff and everything in-between and back again - to say it was thorough audit was an understatement! I am the proudest CEO to say that we passed...!... not just 44 but 44 marks out of a possible 44!! In recent times this is very rare for places to achieve this. Some of you may have expected this from us however with a 24-hour 7-day per week operation with over 120 employees it is hard to guarantee this (we are human)!!! Thank you and congratulations to the nurses, carers, hotel service staff, managers, admin and exec staff that made this happen! I am privileged to be a small part of the team. I work with the best team of individuals that exist. To quote the Accreditors your staff and you actually really do care for your residents... not truer words said - I would happily have my parents live at Rembrandt Court (and use this as my personal benchmark). I love my job and look forward to each day spending time with the beautiful residents of Rembrandt Court! LIFESTYLE Birthdays in April: Happy Birthday to the following residents: 18 April Gertrud Nogga 20 April Antoinette Zwaans 23 April Ilse de Gouw 24 April Anna Alleman 26 April Phyllis Kretschmer 27 April Adriana Smith 28 April Gerda Heinen Resident Feedback This week s Residents Meeting held on Wednesday 11th April was attended by 4 residents and 2 staff members and discussed: Staff uniforms. Request/suggestion was made for Nursing staff to wear different uniform to Personal Carers for easier identification. Some residents have had the opportunity to speak with Assessors from Australian Aged Care Quality Agency. Other items discussed were around menu: o Crackers/cheese for morning tea cheese is eaten first by some leaving only dry crackers for others. o Suggested that Brown Rice be offered on the menu for vegetarians. o Chicken drumsticks are small with very little meat on them. o Fish and chips served in the Café fish has too much batter very small fish pieces. o Meatballs are too solid resulting in a number of residents leaving on plate as they are too difficult to eat. o Rookworst portions are cut too large lot of it is going to waste. o Chickpeas served today were delicious. FOR YOUR INFORMATION Swimming activities will cease for the winter season and will re-commence on Tuesday 4 September. From this week, regular van outings will be included in the lifestyle calendar instead of aquatic activities. It is also planned for Alex (Occupational Therapist) and Physio students to conduct some recreational activities with residents such as gardening and cooking. Rembrandt Living Post Office Box The Post Office Box is now closed no items will be picked up and no re-direction of post is in place due to the 12 months notice that was given of its impending closure.
