The goal of this unit is to expose elementary students to some various careers and to give them a little bit of information.

We will be doing some career focused games and activities. The goal of this unit is to expose elementary students to some various careers and to give them a little bit of information. Be sure to visit with your child about your career or the careers of family and friends. Learning about careers is an important part of a child s development and awareness of different career possibilities. Have a wonderful, restful and educational summer! Summer School will be held: June 11th-22nd at DES July 9th-20th at DES August 6th-17th at RES and DES 8:00-11:00 a.m.

3 Ridgeway Elementary School Spring Concert ELP thru 5th Grade Students will be performing a Spring Concert on Thursday, May 24th. There will be two performances, 9:30 (ELP will sing at this performance) and a 1:30 performance held in the gymnasium. The Orchestra will be performing, Students will be singing fun songs! This will be an outstanding performance! Mark your calendar and plan on attending!

RES Home and School Wow, it is hard to believe the end of the school year is almost here. Where has this year gone?

Please keep on clipping those Box Tops, and sending in your Milk Moola caps and labels.

As always, clip them over the summer and turn them in next year.

Our last Home & School meeting is set for Monday, May 21st @ 6:30 p.m. in the RES Library.

We would love to see more parents get involved and attend meetings.

4 RES Home and School Wow, it is hard to believe the end of the school year is almost here. Where has this year gone? Way to fast, which means our kids are growing up fast. Please keep on clipping those Box Tops, and sending in your Milk Moola caps and labels. If you have any at home currently, please turn them in before the end of the school year, so we can get them sent in. As always, clip them over the summer and turn them in next year. Be sure to check the dates on Box Tops, we can t turn in any that have expired! Our last Home & School meeting is set for Monday, May 6:30 p.m. in the RES Library. Please come to our last meeting and help us wrap things up. Volunteers are needed to continue activities at RES! We would love to see more parents get involved and attend meetings. Please try and set aside an hour to attend once a month, or let us know how you would like to help out. It s always great to have a list of parents that we can call on to help out when its needed. Thank you everyone that has donated their time to help us out this year. We could not have done it without your support. Have a great summer and we look forward to seeing you in the fall. Field Trips & Class Outings With the arrival of spring, the number opportunities for field trips and other class outings increase. Some tips for students going on field trips: 1.

If you do this please let the teacher know. 2. Make sure the student eats breakfast before leaving on the trip. This may also reduce the feeling of nausea when riding.

6 Field Trips & Class Outings With the arrival of spring, the number opportunities for field trips and other class outings increase. Some tips for students going on field trips: 1. If your student gets sick when riding in a car or bus sick please notify the teacher ahead of time. Some parents choose to give the child motion sickness medication before the trip. If you do this please let the teacher know. 2. Make sure the student eats breakfast before leaving on the trip. This may also reduce the feeling of nausea when riding. Breakfast definitely allows the student the energy to participate in the activities of the trip. Generally there are no snacks available on the trip unless it is indicated by the teacher in advance of the trip. 3. Send a water bottle on field trips. Often the student is not able to quickly access water on the bus or during an activity. 4. Have the student wear sturdy footwear like tennis shoes, not sandals, high heeled shoes or flip flops. Safety is always a concern and often the students complain of twisted ankles or tripping when wearing sandals, heels or flip flops. They need to be ready to walk distances, climb stairs or trails and sometimes to run during an activity. 5. Have the student dress in layers. The day may start cool or warm, but the weather may change quickly or the area of the activity may not be either warm or cool. Once the trip leaves the school there is little chance of getting a jacket for the student who feels cold. If your child is ill please do not send him or her on the trip. No one wants to miss out on the fun, but a sick child does not enjoy the trip. There is no place for the sick child to rest on a trip and it is difficult to have an adult spend the trip with a sick child.
