HERRINGTHORPE JUNIOR SCHOOL, CHATTERTON DRIVE, ROTHERHAM S65 2JW Tel: 01709 828168 Fax/Tel: 01709 828998 Executive Headteacher: Mrs. J. Fearnley (B.Ed. Hons) Chair of Governors: Mr A Trueman www.herringthorpejuniors.com Dear Parent/Carer School Meals We are currently experiencing an extremely high level of dinner debts. If every parent/carer did not pay for just one meal for each child in school, for one day, this would be a debt of 738.00 per day and for the week this would equate to 3690.00. The schools kitchen does not belong to the junior school this is owned by RMBC and we have to pay for the lunches used for on a daily basis, just as you would if you were to take your child to any other café or restaurant. We are currently in the process of approving a dinner debt policy and will forward to parents/carers in the near future. Road Safety The Year 4 children have started their pedestrian training discussing potential road hazards and practising crossing the road safely. Royal Wedding Celebration On Friday, 18 th May, the children had a wonderful afternoon celebrating the Royal Wedding. Everyone came dressed in red, white and blue and the Year 6 children did a fantastic job of organising games and activities for the whole school (well done Year 6!). Each class then had a picnic on the grass to celebrate. Thank you to all the parent/carers for sending in their buns and cakes.

SATs The children in Year 6 all completed their Key Stage Two Assessments (SAT tests) last week. Once again our booster arrangements have been a great success. Thank you to all children, staff and parents who have worked together to ensure the children can achieve their very best. On the day the children were confident, relaxed and approached the challenge with their usual enthusiasm and resilience. Well done all! Have a wonderful Half-Term Break.
