3 Margaritaville was a song that took only about six minutes to write but years to live. But before there was a song there was a kid on this beach. Pensacola Beach was the first Florida I ever knew long before I made it down A1A to Key West. The story of Margaritaville is simple. Who wouldn t enjoy a week at the beach? The beaches between Pensacola and New Orleans were my first babysitters. Tidal pools were my first kiddy pools. It was where I first became conscious of birds flying, fish jumping out of the ocean and the fact that crabs seemed to love to pinch toes. Those visions are part of my soul. It has been a long and amazing journey for me, but whatever seashore I find myself on in whatever far corner of the world I might be, I always compare where I am to the shores of the Gulf of Mexico, which was and always will be home base. And, as Dorothy said, in the Wizard of Oz, when she clicked the heels of those red shoes together three times, There s no place like home. Welcome to where I come from. Mother, mother ocean... 5 Project Planet: The Project Planet program is an effort of the Margaritaville Beach Hotel to protect the environment through conservation of water and decreased use of detergent. If you are staying with us more than one night, as part of the Project Planet program, we will launder your linens every three days. If you would prefer not to participate in this program, simply leave the card provided on your pillow and linens will be changed that day. As always, linens are automatically changed after every guest check-out. We invite you to join with us to conserve water by using your towels more than once. In addition to decreasing water and energy consumption, you help us reduce the amount of detergent waste water that must be recycled within our community. Please hang the towels up if you wish to participate in the program if not, simply leave them on the floor. 6 Guest Information: Air Conditioning and Heating Air conditioning and heating can be regulated by the controls in each room. Business Center The Coconut Telegraph business center is located past the front desk on the gulf side. There are three computers with Internet access and a printer with complimentary printing. Photocopying and fax services are available at the front desk. Coffee Service In-room coffee makers are available. Credit Information We accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club, and Carte Blanche. 10 Water Safety: It s always a good idea to swim where there are lifeguards present and never swim alone. Lifeguard services are available at the main beach on the Gulf of Mexico and on Quietwater Beach on Santa Rosa Sound. Lifeguards are around full time from June through August, and part time and weekends the rest of the year. Hours are generally 9:30am-6pm. Lifeguards are equipped to handle only minor injuries. If an emergency occurs in an area not covered by a lifeguard, please call 911. The Gulf of Mexico is warm and inviting, but sometimes can be dangerous. Please pay attention to flags where lifeguards are present that alert you to the current conditions. Close the door securely whenever you are in your room and use all of the locking devices provided. 4.
