1 Boundaries Guidelines for Volunteers As a guide, the following behaviors are inadvisable and could result in you not being able to volunteer in the future: Visiting patients and/or families during times other than your designated volunteer shift Visiting patients on hospital units or their homes Socializing with patients and/or families outside the House/Hospital Visiting patients and/or families following discharge/checking out Continuing to support families following the death of a child Buying personal gifts for patients and/or families Withholding information from staff about the concerns of patients and/or families Exchanging home address, address, phone numbers, and other personal information with patients and/or families Texting from your cell phone or using the computer application Twitter to share patient information Absolutely no information should be posted on Facebook or any social media outlet having anything to do with patients and their families Giving patients and/or families a ride in a vehicle It is not appropriate to communicate with patients via their websites and CarePages Photographs, video or media require advance permission and arrangements If it is necessary to bring along younger children, they need to be supervised at all times for their safety and our guests. Children are welcome to use the playroom, but it must be tidied before you leave. Ronald McDonald House is a NON-DENOMINATIONAL organization. Passing out any type of religiously-themed literature or engaging in any type of religious solicitation is prohibited. Clarification of our policy on Facebook and on other communications involving potentially protected health information. Absolutely no posting any information on Facebook or other social media having to do with patients and their families. This includes information either expressly stated or implied. Being a Facebook friend with a patient or their family opens the door to both HIPAA and boundary violations. We need to maintain our professional role when relating to others in this capacity. Inappropriate personal relationships can be misconstrued and may jeopardize our ability to volunteer. As you know, anything you say to one person within Facebook or other social media is visible to many. This many includes people you both know and don t know. Your comments may be perceived as offensive or inappropriate.
2 PRMH ADULT VISITOR GUIDELINES The health, safety, and peace of mind of our families, volunteers, staff and visitors are of utmost importance to us. We will use the ID information that you provide to check a variety of sources, including public registries that identify individuals who may pose a risk to children. PRMH reserves the right to use this information to restrict access to our facilities. The following are acceptable forms of valid ID at PRMH: State-issued driver s license State-issued ID Current passport Valid Government-issued photo ID Valid Active Military photo ID University/College photo ID Thank you for your understanding.
