3 3 The best way to demo Tesoro is to show how to prepare and cook them. Below are some tips when demoing Tesoro: Tesoro are fantastic to slice and dice. Since they are gel-free, you can slice them ahead of time. On sandwiches, bread never gets soggy. Slice Tesoro and notice how the meat of the tomato is solid throughout the slice How thin can you go? Notice how the cutting board remains clean Dicing is a dream Do this Give sample to shopper Show bag Take a tomato and place it on the cutting board Slice the tomato in half and show center. Start slicing the tomato, use slices to show center Say this Hi! Would you like to try these new fresh tomatoes? These are Tesoro. I cooked these just now simply with olive oil, balsamic vinegar and a touch of mint. These are Tesoros, a brand new tomato that was especially developed for cooking and slicing Tesoros were voted winner of the Chef s Choice Award by the leading fresh produce trade group. As you can see, Tesoro is a no-gel tomato that is solid through and through. When slicing or dicing you ll notice that the cutting board doesn t get messy. No more holes in your tomatoes, even when baked on pizzas.
4 4 1 electric skillet from 9 16 Appetizer spoons (can be purchased at the following web site: Cocktail napkins (red preferred) Recipe card (from TPE) Tesoro tomatoes Extra virgin olive oil Kosher salt Fresh basil (cut into strips 1 inch in length) Fresh mozzarella cheese Slice tomatoes into ¾ inch slices Coat with olive oil Place on grill or skillet on medium / high heat Grill each side of the tomato for approx. 2-3 minutes (they should be slightly soft but still firm in the center Slice mozzarella into ½ inch thick slices Remove tomato and plate Place cheese and basil on tomato Salt to taste With this recipe, you want to demonstrate the solid flesh and great tomatoey flavor of Tesoro. This simple recipe enhances the flavor of Tesoro while being very simple to demo. Alternatively you can also add a little minced garlic or use garlic olive oil or other flavored oil to spice it up.
5 5 Tesoro tomatoes Extra virgin olive oil Kosher salt Christopher Ranch Diced Garlic in Oil Dice Tesoro tomatoes into approximately ¼ inch pieces In a mixing bowl combine Tesoro tomatoes, 1/2 tablespoon of olive oil per Tesoro Tomato used, 1 teaspoon diced garlic and 1 teaspoon of kosher salt. Heat sauté pan. Add Tesoro tomatoes mixture and cook at medium heat for 2 3 minutes stirring until the tomatoes are heated and beginning to break down slightly. Place mixture in small individual serving cups along with small spoon. The goal is to highlight the ease of preparation and the flavor of the tomatoes brought out through easy prep. Fresh basil and/or fresh rosemary can also be used. Another preparation would be to serve the mixture on small crostini size toasted bread rounds. One other quick preparation that can be suggested is the combining of the Tesoro mixture over Angel Hair or other similar pasta. Actually, this preparation is so easy it can be served in a number of ways. Bon Appetite
