6 Intro by Alison Heath your Longevity Rescuer Welcome to part 4 of the Easy Natural Facelift program. We ve looked at exercises you can do for your face and neck in part 1. We ve reviewed creams you can make for both your face and body in part 2 saving a fortune on those expensive commercial products while also having the comfort of knowing your using natural products that are wonderful for your skin. In part 4 you learned what toxic chemicals to avoid in your cosmetics and personal care products. I hope you ve enjoyed the videos so far. Now we have a big topic to address. It s actually huge, because what we re looking at is a diet for youth. This is such a broad topic. It s hard to know where to begin. The first food you need to have is laughter. We need to be able to laugh at ourselves. If you can learn to find humour in your day, that s going to go a long way to supporting our longevity and rejuvenating our face. I d like to look at some of the supplements; the special superfoods that we can add into our diet, foods that are enzymatically alive and young foods that we can put into our diet. Let s take a look at some of the different choices that are available. 7 Young Skin Diet Supplements Vitamin D3 If you can t get out into the sun include vitamin D 3 in your daily diet. Vitamin D 3 is actually a hormone not a vitamin. The natural form you want to use is D 3 (cholecalciferol). When you are exposed to sunshine your body makes this exact form of vitamin D. The synthetic one is vitamin D 2 (ergocalciferol) and you want to avoid that one. Throughout this document when we are referring to vitamin D it will be the natural vitamin D 3. It s easy to get your blood tested to discover if you are low in vitamin D. There s an epidemic out there. Almost all of our vitamin D levels are low. The two vitamin D tests are -- 1,25(OH)D and 25(OH)D. The correct test is 25(OH)D, also called 25-hydroxyvitamin D You want to use 25(OH)D as it is a better measure of your overall D status. An optimal vitamin D level is most strongly associated with overall health. Check that Your Lab Uses the Correct Assay In the United States, DiaSorin is the gold standard of companies approved by the FDA approval to perform vitamin D testing. Their method for measuring your vitamin D levels is radioimmunoassay (RIA) and it is the standard because it s the one referred to in almost every major vitamin D study. These are the recommended blood levels on which clinical efficacy are based. So any other testing method must be adjusted so the values agree with DiaSorin RIA results if you want to obtain clinically relevant results and establish the recommended levels in your blood. Without covering the details of the other two methods of testing, understand how important it is to find out if your lab performs the appropriate recalibrations in your vitamin D levels when measured against DiaSorin s assays. Otherwise there the results are likely to be very misleading. Your vitamin D levels may be vastly overstated by as much as 40 percent. You may falsely believe that your levels are fine, but the truth may be that you are deficient, possibly even dangerously low. When you have the correct levels of vitamin D it is so helpful to the skin and will also greatly increase our protection against the deadly skin cancer melanoma Young Skin Diet Part 4 by Alison Health 7
8 Astaxanthin Astaxanthin is another amazing supplement that we can take for our skin. It s a green microalgae called Haematoccous pluvialis that turns red when exposed to the sun providing it s own protection against sunburn. It s what gives the sea creatures like salmon their beautiful red color. Astaxanthin is responsible for the pink color of flamingoes. You are familiar with many of the carotenoid vegetables like red bell peppers and carrots. Astaxanthin is so powerful for the skin. List of Benefits for the Skin: Reduces the existence of wrinkles, dry skin, age spots and freckles. Protects skin for overexposure due to sun induced free radicals. 9 Wild Blue Green Algae Wild grown blue green algae (Aphanozomenon floss-aquae) is a primordial algae and is the very basis of the food chain. It s at the root of the tree of life and was the first food that learned how to do photosynthesis bringing life to our planet. It is the superfood that started my personal journey returning to optimal health. 10 Add Fresh Fruits and Veggies to Your Diet We re going to look at some of the best fresh fruits and vegetables you can include in your diet for young and beautiful skin. Sprouts One of my very favorite foods, a staple of my diet, contains a wide variety of energetic forces. I call it eating for youth. Sprouts are now available in the grocery stores, farmer markets and specialized indoor urban sprout farms. Sprouts are definitely one of my favorite foods. When you eat sprouts you are putting into your body foods that are just the beginning of the plant. It s just the little sprout and contains all of the nutrients and a hive of activity full of very active enzymes; everything that will go into the full grown plant. Sprouts are very easy to digest. They are a very energetic food to put into your body to enhance your vitality and beautiful skin. After a meal of fresh sprouts, you ll feel energized and ready for action and your skin will soon begin to glow. There is a wide variety of sprouts available. 12 Drink lots of fresh pure water. Forget about pop, softdrinks, energy drinks and fruit juice. Filter your water. Or you can make it an adventure and visit FindaSpring.com to locate the nearest public pure spring water source in your region. Go and fill up your containers to collect your own supply of the best pure water available. Coconut water is another great source of healthy hydration. Juicing One of my favourite methods of food preparation is juicing. Juicing hydrates your body and provides nutrients in a form that is easy to digest and assimilate. It doesn t have to be difficult or time consuming. Clean up is pretty easy. Many people initially think that juicing will be a real chore, but the majority is pleasantly surprised to find that it is much easier than they thought it would be. When getting started you want to introduce foods that are easy for the body to digest. Use organic foods or fresh local foods whenever possible. Young Skin Juice Recipe: Ingredients: 1 cucumber chopped 4 stalks of celery 2011 Young Skin Diet Part 4 by Alison Health 12
13 2 leafs of kale 3 cups of mixed sprouts (radish, sunflower, brocolli, or whatever you have on hand) 1 cup of blueberries Instructions: Wash the vegetables well, and rinse the sprouts in a salad spinner. Chop the vegetables into lengths that will fit into your juicer. Juice the all the ingredients. You can run the pulp through the juicer several times to remove all the liquid from the pulp. Drink a glass within 10 minutes, and store the remaining juice filling a glass jar to the rim and covering tightly. You want to minimize the amount of air entering your leftover juice. Refrigerate and drink later in the day. You re just going to love juicing. It s going to make such a difference to your face. Below is a combination of juices some vegetable, some fruit and some mixed. All of them extremely good for your health, giving you glowingly vibrant beautiful skin from the inside out! Enjoy! Your Beautiful Skin Drink: Ingredients: 1 large organic cucumber (unpeeled) 4 stalks of organic celery 1 large organic apple 1 tsp of wild grown blue green algae Instructions: Juice all the ingredients accept the blue green algae powder. Pour the juice into a glass bottle adding in the blue green algae. Cover the jar and shake well. The blue green algae give the drink beautiful color and your skin will have a captivating glow after a few days drinking it. The cucumber (particularly the outer skin) is rich in silicon. Silicon is well known as a beauty mineral and is a critical factor in the flexibility and proper hydration of the skin. It is well respected for its ability to improve wrinkles and slow aging. The greatest benefit from celery is the hydration your body will receive from the cell salts which also remove toxins from your body. Apple adds more antioxidants to rejuvenate your skin like Vitamin A and Vitamin C while it provides a little sweetness to the juice. They are particularly high in vitamins A, C and E. Ingredients: 4 cups of blackberries Instructions: Thoroughly wash and juice. Blackberry Kiwi an Oily Skin Remedy: Ingredients: 2 cups of blackberries 2 kiwis Instructions: Wash blackberries thoroughly and peel the kiwis. 16 Clear Skin Vegetable Juice: This is a nutrient-dense juice that is a valuable part of a healthy clear skin, weightloss and is also a great detox. One serving provides 9 grams of protein, less than a gram of fat, and the 200 mg of calcium from the kale is two times more available than cow s milk and equals 2/3 of a cup of milk. These vegetables will ensure you get your daily dose of healthy skin nutrition! Ingredients: 6 carrots 4 ripe tomatoes, quartered 1 cucumber, peeled and cut in half lengthwise 2 stalks celery 1 Tbsp chopped red onion 1/2 clove garlic 2 tsps freshly squeezed lemon juice 1 tsp grated horseradish 1/4 tsp salt Pinch of cayenne Instructions: Juice the carrots, celery, tomatoes, cucumber, onion, and garlic, and strain. 18 Oily Skin Rescue with Carrot Juice: Ingredients: 5 large carrots Instructions: Wash, juice, enjoy! Carrots are a great source of vitamin A.
