1 A walk in the woods looking after your woodland When you are visiting any woodland you should:~ Wear sensible clothing and good footwear Make sure arms and legs are covered to minimise scratches and risk of tick bites For information on tick bites go to ww.thedeerinitiative.co.uk/uploads/guides/118.pdf You should look out for sharp objects and be aware it may be slippery underfoot Remember if you lift any logs while searching for invertebrates be sure to gently return them to the same place. Respect the wildlife you are looking for. Follow the countryside code:- Respect other people Consider the local community and other people enjoying the outdoors Leave gates and property as you find them and follow paths Protect the natural environment Leave no trace of your visit and take your litter home Keep dogs under effective control Enjoy the outdoors Plan ahead and be prepared Follow advice and local signs Version 1.0
