4 Our wines Our catalogue is carefully curated to bring to Hong Kong the best of the regional uncharted wines of Italy. We do not seek for obnoxiously huge brands, choosing instead to focus on carefully handcrafted wines the Hong Kong retail user is ready to experience and treasure. We stand 100 per cent behind each and every wine in this list.

Frecciarossa Frecciarossa is family-owned and presently run by Valeria, the 4th generation of the Odero family.

6 Oltretorrente Oltretorrente is a small, family-run boutique winery located in the southern Piedmont s hills of the Tortona region. The estate covers only 7 hectares where our friends Michele and Chiara (the family owners) protect and maintain a precious diversity of vines. They are both graduates in Agriculture at the University of Milan, and worked for several wineries before setting up their own to produce the wines they love. Expert in the field, Michele and Chiara brought back into production vines that are over a century old and had been left unattended by previous owners. In a few years, they mastered the techniques to balance the legacy of old farming with their target of producing top quality wines from vintage vineyards. They adopt a holistic and organic approach that expresses the history, soil and outstanding identity of the region. 7 Ca Nova Ca Nova is a small family-run winery founded in 1996 and presently run by our friend Giada, who 10 years ago abandoned her career in Law to walk in her father s footsteps at his passing. The estate covers only 10 hectares, which are sparsely situated in three different areas across the DOC Novara hills regin and the DOCG Ghemme territory. This land is famed for its ancient moraines of glacial formation. In line with many of our wineries, Ca Nova employs only environmentally-sound treatments. 8 Le Pianelle Le Pianelle extends over just 4 hectares in North Piedmont. Founded in 2002, the winery set its aim high from the beginning, starting with the production of Nebbiolo, one of most famous grapes from this Northern region, to then include varieties such as Croatina and Vespolina. Le Pianelle produces only two wines with the goal of mastering new techniques to become the best producer in these categories. Expert Antonio Galloni consistently praises Le Pianelle s most important wine, our outrageously beautiful Bramaterra. Its 2013 vintage was awarded by Galloni 94+ points, for the wine is dramatic and ample on the palate. The winery covers no more than 25 hectares of vineyards and is surrounded by the wonderful landscape of the Tuscan countryside. The name Casa alle Vacche (literally Home to the Cows in English) is neither random nor imaginary but purely a historical reference. In the 1800 s the area where the winery today stands was used as stables for the cows that used to haul the wagons and work the fields. As well as its historical background, the name evokes the simplicity, naturalness, effort and hard work of a family that has traditionally been winemakers. 12 Gotto d Oro Gotto d'oro is a consortium of small wine producers founded in 1945, immediately after World War II. The founding members were pioneers in sharing wine-growing and commercial knowledge that was in danger of being lost as a result of the conflict. 13 Villa Matilde Villa Matilde was founded in the 1960s, when Francesco Paolo Avallone, a lawyer with a passion for ancient wines decides to bring back to life the legendary vinum Falernum, praised in Latin literature by poets such as Pliny, Virgil, and Horace. The wine had disappeared since the early 20th century. After years of studying the grape varieties that had produced the Falernum wine in Roman times, Avallone re-planted the handful of vines that had miraculously survived devastation by phylloxera in the late 19th century, on the Massico mountain, where the vines had flourished in ancient times. Villa Matilde was then established. Villa Matilde places high importance in researching innovative technologies and methods to reproduce ancient wines while maintaining a strong bond with the local culture and its winemaking traditions.
