2 Thursday, Oct 12 th : Food & Wine exploration - Wineries of Lujan de Cuyo, Mendoza For this morning, we have selected a handful of Mendoza s most distinctive food & wine experiences. After a short transfer, we ride our bikes for a few miles to: - Catena Zapata Winery Nicolas Catena: Decanter Magazine's Man of the Year, 2009 award Then we continue riding to our next stop: - Achaval Ferrer Winery After wine tasting at Achaval Ferrer, it is a short van transfer to: - Ruca Malen Winery Great Wine Capitals, 2014 Gold Medal- Global Best of Wine Tourism Category: Wine Tourism Restaurants After lunch, we get to see colonial Chacras de Coria before returning to our hotel. Evening on your own to explore Mendoza s unlimited options of fine dining. Lodging: Amerian Mendoza Hotel / Meals: B, L Cycling: 1.5 to 2 hours riding on secondary roads (paved and unpaved), mostly flat Friday, Oct 13 th : Uco Valley, Biking & Wine We start the day with a scenic drive south by the Andes, to the higher altitude terroirs of Uco Valley. Due to its unparalleled soil and climate conditions, the Uco valley came to world recognition during recent years, earning a reputation as the gem of all Argentine wine regions. This morning we cycle in direction to the town of Vista Flores and the lower parts of the Valley. Our destination is the amazing Clos de los Siete project, a joint wine adventure of seven French wine producers initiated a few years back by France s top winemaker Michel Rolland. We visit DiamAndes Winery and taste well structured premium wines before heading for Monteviejo where we relax over lunch and sample wines from this winery. Afternoon check-in at Posada Salentein Wine Lodge and relax away until dinner. 3 Saturday, Oct 14 th : Uco Valley - Hiking Shortly after breakfast today, we will take a short van ride up to the Manzano Historico Andean Village for a glorious morning hike in the Andean foothills. Around noon, we are at La Azul, the 3rd generation family owned boutique winery, where we sample their Gran Reservas directly from the barrel. Lunch at the winery includes delicious empanadas cooked in a mud oven and a pairing menu with the winery s delicious Cabs and fruity Malbecs. Afternoon leisure back at our lodge. Pre-dinner wine tasting and introduction to Wines and Adventures of the Andes travel experiences in other regions of Argentina & Chile. Lodging: Posada Salentein Wine lodge / Meals: B, L, D Hiking: 2.5 hours, 3 miles, 250 meters/800 elevation gain Sunday, October 15: Transfer to the airport Morning transfer back to Mendoza airport to board flight to Salta via Buenos Aires. 5 General Packing list - (Wine Regions) The climate in Mendoza (Argentina) is moderate-temperate, though its mountains provide a certain degree of aridity. October temperatures range between daily highs of 27ºC (81ºF) and evening lows of 12ºC (54ºF); days can be very warm and nights cool.
