1 Flavours of France Food and Wine Tour October 14 th to 22 nd, nights, 9 days Summary Itinerary Monday, October 14 th Day 1 Depart for Paris Depart from select Maritime cities on your overnight flight to Paris via Toronto or Montreal. Try to get some sleep on your flight before arriving in Paris. (IFM) Tuesday, October 15 th Day 2 Arrive in Paris Lyon Welcome to Paris. Upon arrival at the airport we will gather our luggage and board our private motorcoach transfer to the train station. We will take the high-speed train (TGV) to Lyon, the culinary capital of France. On arrival in Lyon we will transfer to our host hotel and check in for a two-night stay. This evening enjoy an included dinner and apero at a Bouchon Lyonnais. Overnight: Le Royal M Gallery Lyon (or similar) (D) Wednesday, October 16 th Day 3 Lyon Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will discover Lyon by foot with a local guide. Walk through the Traboules du Vieux Lyon, take the funicular to the old Roman settlement of Fourviere for spectacular views of the city, and visit the Basilica of Notre Dame. We will also make a stop at the legendary food market Les Halles - Paul Bocuse. Later we visit the AOC region of the Cotes du Rhones for a wine tasting and cellar visit with the winemaker. 2 Thursday, October 17 th Day 4 Lyon Annecy Beaune Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. A scenic drive this morning takes us through Savoie and into the picturesque Alpine town of Annecy. Relax as we take a boat ride on the canals of Annecy. Following the cruise we will have time to stroll down cobblestone streets and past pastel-coloured houses. This afternoon we will experience a wine tasting in the Mâconnais region to experience the world famous white wines of Pouilly-Fuissé. We arrive later at our accommodations in Beaune for a 3-night stay. After we check in we will enjoy an included dinner and wine tasting at Patriarche Pere et Fils. Overnight: Hotel de la Cloche (or similar) (B, D) Friday, October 18 th Day 5 Beaune Puligny Montrachet Beaune Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. This morning we will be joined by a Local Guide for a tour of Beaune. We will also visit the historic 15 th century Hotel Dieu, home to the annual Hospices de Beaune wine auction. Explore the town at the centre of the Burgundy wine production and a key city for the Dukes of Burgundy. After our tour we will have free time for lunch (not included). This afternoon we will learn about the local culinary specialties of the region. Tonight, experience what is considered by many to be the home to the finest white wines in the world: Puligny-Montrachet. A visit to the cellars and tasting is the perfect way to finish our day in Burgundy. Dinner will be on your own this evening. 3 Saturday, October 19 th Day 6 Beaune Vosne Romanee Beaune Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. We will start our day with a visit to a traditional food market in Beaune to see how the locals shop. Free time will be provided to have lunch on your own. After exploring Beaune we will have a guided Grand Cru tasting of Burgundy red wine at Vosne-Romanée (Romanée Conti) and vineyard visit to learn about terroir and the negociant system. This evening we will experience a cooking class paired with wines. Overnight: Hotel de la Cloche (or similar) (B, D) Sunday, October 20 th Day 7 Beaune Chablis Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. Today a short drive takes us to Vezelay, voted to be one of the most beautiful villages of France. It is from the famous 12 th century basilica where pilgrims from all over the world begin their journey on the The Way of St. James. Enjoy a guided tour of Vezelay followed by free time for lunch on your own. This afternoon we continue to Chablis, known for its dry white wines. Visit a local winery for a tasting and have time to explore the quaint old town. This evening we will return to the hotel and have an included dinner. Overnight: Hostellerie des Clos (or similar) (B, D) Monday, October 21 st Day 8 Chablis Paris Enjoy a complimentary breakfast at the hotel. This morning we say farewell to Burgundy and make our way back to Paris. Once we arrive in Paris we will have time for shopping, a visit to the area of Montmartre or time at leisure. 4 Tuesday, October 22 nd Day 9 Depart for Home This morning after a complimentary breakfast we say à bientôt before we check out of the hotel and make our way to Charles de Gaulle Airport. We board our return flight home with a connection in Toronto or Montreal. Arrive home in the Maritimes with many happy memories of your Flavours of France Food and Wine Tour. Prices are subject to change based on costs of airfare to be confirmed November Flights are subject to change at discretion of the airline and may require adjustments to the itinerary. Any additional overnights due to an unexpected airline schedule changes will be at an additional cost. 6 Tour Director and Driver Your Tour Director and Driver play an important role in making your vacation as memorable and hassle-free as possible. While optional, gratuities are a great way to show your appreciation. The suggested industry guideline is $3.00 to $6.00 per person, per day for your Tour Director and also your Driver. This should be extended on a voluntary and individual basis at the completion of the tour. Travel Insurance Your tour price does not include travel insurance.
