1 Since 1858 when Eugene Mercier set up Champagne Mercier at the age of twenty Mercier is about bringing a particular style to every bottle. Fresh and dry, this is particularly characterful Gavi. 47 Sancerre Le Mont, Foucher Lebrun Loire, France Crisp, flavoursome Sancerre which offers floral and boxwood aromas. The palate shows juicy citrus fruit alongside the trademark elegance and minerality of the appellation. 48 Cloudy Bay Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough, New Zealand A weighty, dry wine, finely textured, it has fresh, ripe passionfruit, melon, capsicum and lime flavours that build across the palate to a resounding finish. A sophisticated rather than full-on, pungently herbaceous style of Sauvignon Blanc, it has great finesse and drinkability. 49 Montagny 1er Cru, Henri de Villamont Richly vibrant white burgundy, offering characteristic aromas of red apple and grilled nuts, and a creamy texture on the palate cut with some citrus freshness. Ripe, concentrated flavours of citrus and nectarine fruit with barrel ferment nuttiness and a slightly creamy texture help to give nice weight and finish. 52 Puligny-Montrachet Le Trezin 2013, Marc Colin Powerful wine with mineral notes and a well-integrated acidity. The most mineral of the villages wine from the Côte de Beaune. 53 Lethbridge Allegra Chardonnay 2009 (Biodynamic) Geelong, South Australia Outstanding Chardonnay from one of Australia s top producers, very limited production, rich, opulent, incredible finesse and lingering finish, a classic. 54 Cervaro della Sala, Antinori Umbria, Italy Intense, complex aroma with notes of white flowers and flint balanced by a hint of vanilla. Full-bodied and well-structured palate with notes of toast, citrus and mineral. Elegant and persistent in the mouth, this is a wine with a long life ahead of it. 55 Meursault 2010, Pierre Morey (Organic) Pierre Morey s naturally focused, mineral style is a nice counterpoint to the natural richness of the 2006 vintage; this Meursault offers a mixture of exotic floral and stone fruit flavours with a concentrated steely power on the palate. 8 Red Wine Light Bodied Fruity Reds, softer in Tannins 56 Gran Hacienda Merlot, Santa Rita 2015, Central Valley, Chile This Merlot has a complex aroma combining ripe black fruits and sweet plums with vanilla and spice notes. Concentrated palate, with a very ripe, smooth structure. 57 Rioja Tinto Tempranillo Conde de Valdemar Spain Lovely smooth young Rioja, with bright cranberry/cherry fruit, a violet aroma, and some creaminess on the finish. 58 Pinot Noir Coopers Creek Marlborough, New Zealand Black plums and black cherries on the nose intermingled with subtle French oak and nuances of grilled meat. Rich and firm on the palate with bold, sweet fruit. A core of ripe black cherry lingers on the finish. 59 Fleurie, La Madone, Duboeuf Beaujolais, France This famous Cru lives up to its name with a smooth, elegant and yes floral wine of immense charm. 60 Bourgogne Pinot Noir Prestige 2014, Henri de Villamont, Henri de Villamont s red burgundy is a rather sophisticated affair, showing real depth of fruit and a fine silky texture. Predominately Sangiovese with Cabernet and Cabernet Franc making up the blend. Plum and cherries mingle with mint and liquorice, creating a vivid, harmonious balance from the first impression through to the long, savoury finish I cook with wine. The palate is dry but smooth-textured, with an appetising mineral finish. Dessert Wine 85 Château Menota Cuvée Du Portail 2010 Bottle: 75cl Graves Supérieures, Bordeaux, France Glass: 125 ml 5.25 Classic aromas of marmalade, honey and blossom introduce this delicious wine. The palate is medium-sweet, full of fruit, and yet fresh and tangy, with a whistle-clean finish. 86 Tokaji Late Harvest Cuvée, Sauska 2003/2005 Bottle: 500 ml Tokaji, Hungary This Tokaji sees only a brief period in barrel, allowing the succulent pear, peach and orange fruit characters to take centre stage. The sweetness is perfectly offset by citrus, allowing the wine to progress from a fruit-filled entry to a clean refreshing finish. 87 Buitenverwachting 1769 Muscat 2014, Bottle: 375ml Constantia, South Africa Glass: 125 ml 8.50 This classical Constantia dessert wine offers ripe apricot, melon,fynbos and apple like characters. The initial sensation is sweet, but due to crisp natural acids the wine has a firm and full finish. 88 Pineau des Charentes Rouge 5 Ans d Age Bottle: 75cl Château de Beaulon, France Glass:125ml 8.75 The perfect dessert wine with chocolate, made with classic Cabernet and Merlot grapes then fortified with Cognac.Fresh, supple with notes of black cherry in alcohol, blackcurrant, red rose, perfect harmony of fruity strength and mellowness. 89 Château Jolys Jurançon Cuvée Jean 2012/2013 Bottle: 375ml Lusciously rich with a nose of exotic fruits, peaches, pineapple and white flowers.
