1 Portland Food Carts near: The Native American Student & Community Center 710 S Jackson St, Find them on the park blocks or mostly on SW 4th between College and Hall. 1. Thai Pasta SW Hall and 4th St Portland, OR (503) This is probably my favorite food cart in the PSU food cart block across the street from the engineering building (a short walk away from my work). They're quick and cheap (expect to pay $5.50). It's the right combination of cheap and tasty. 2. Asaase Ital Palace 1600 SW 5th and College (503) Categories: African, Food Stands, Vegan A vegetarian African Caribbean food cart! I'm so proud of the PSU food cart pod for diversifying. As I approached the cart, I crossed my fingers for plantains and wasn't disappointed. 3. The Portland Soup Company SW 4th and SW Hall (541) Categories: Food Stands, Sandwiches, Soup New cart alert! And it's not Mexican or Thai - - way too many of those on the PSU cart block.

2 The name says soup, but they also have sandwiches and salads. I had the Applewood Smoked Trout Chowder, which was really good with the smokey trout flavor. 4. Dosirak Sw 4th Ave and Sw College St (503) Categories: Japanese, Food Stands The name means "lunch box" according to their sign. Think "bento." At first I was disappointed another Asian cart was going in to the PSU pod (there are plenty!), but this one was specialized: teriyaki chicken and gyoza. 5. Chopollos St (503) Categories: Mexican, Food Stands I think this is the fifth Mexican cart to open up on the PSU cart block. I'm happy with the quality of my food. I got the Trio Fajita Burrito (I think I have the name right) with shrimp, beef and pork. Very good. 6. New Taste of India 1810 SW 4th Ave (503) Categories: Indian, Food Stands, Pakistani I had to bump this up to four stars. I'm really lucky to have this great cart so close to my work. This is one of the best Indian food options in Portland. The PSU cart block rocks and New Taste of India is the only Indian option there. 8. Boonrod Thai SW 4th Ave and SW Hall St

3 I love the food here and the people who run it are very sweet. They have some unique specials, which rotate more often than the other nearby Thai carts. This is probably my second favorite Thai cart in the area. 9. Yassu SW Hall and 4th Categories: Food Stands, Mediterranean This Mediterranean cart just opened up today in place of the old King of Rice stand. It looks very promising. 10. Rice & Noodle Categories: Food Stands, Chinese A new cart on the PSU blocks! At first I was disappointed that yet another Asian cart appeared, but this one seems to be mostly Chinese while all the others seem to be mostly Thai. 12. Ahla W Sahla SW 4th Ave & College St. (503) Categories: Mediterranean, Food Stands Freshly made shawarma, falafels and pitas. This place has good food served by a sweet man in the cart. The wait is a bit longer than other carts, but it's easy to see why when you watch him put everything together and toast the pitas. 13. Fernando's Mundo Fiesta SW 4th and College St. (503) Categories: Mexican, Food Stands, Vegan 15. Krua Bangkok

4 Krua Bangkok has replaced Inter Selects, becoming a more formalized version of Thai food than it's previous occupant. Though the PSU pod is saturated with Thai cuisine, Krua's menu is distinct enough to make it acceptable. 17. Vietnamese Banh- mi Sandwich Cart SW 4th and College St (503) Categories: Vietnamese, Food Stands The PSU cart block is growing and now it has a new Vietnamese sandwich cart. Thank you for variety! This very simple cart has five sandwich (traditional, pork, beef, chicken, BBQ pork and vegetarian) options for $3.50. Then you can choose some chips 18. Sureetana Oriental Kitchen 412 SW Hall (503) This mixed bag of a cart just showed up. Here's how it stacks up: This place serves the cheapest full meal I've ever seen at a cart: $3.50 for the daily special, otherwise everything is $ Suliyothai St (503)

5 Am I the only one wary of places with giant pictures of their dishes? I guess I should appreciate that I can get a visual of the food I'm about to eat, but the colors often don't look real and make me question my choice. 20. Taqueria Villanueva (503) Categories: Mexican, Food Stands Solid taqueria option if you're in the area. This block has no shortage of Mexican options, but feel safe with this cart.
