J4ieur ALL F1 SH Stocks of allfrozenfishincanada on September 1 amounted to 50,832,119 lb. of which 46.0 million lb. were Frozen Fresh and 4.6 million lb. Frozen Smoked. In these figures estimates of 2.5 million lb. Frozen "resh and 280 thousand lb. Frozen Smoked are included for firms failing to report ontime. These holdings are higher by 239 thousand lb. Frozen Fresh and 1.6 million lb. Frozen Smoked than those at September 1, Compared withaugust 1 1, 1947 figures they arehigher by 6.6 million lb. Frozen Fresh and by 635 thousand lb. Frozen Smoked. The apparent net "intostorage" movement for all classifications was 7.2 million lb. as compared with a similar movementof 7.6 million lb. during August COD Holdings of Frozen Cod were 5,911,674 lb. consisting of 5,876,606 lb. Frozen Fresh and 35,068 lb. Frozen 5moked. (Fillets notincluded) The apparent net decreaseduringaugufit was 226 thousand lb. as compared with an oppositemovement of 2.0 raillionlb. in AuguSt The quantlty'reportecl asfrozen during August was 1,275,350 lb. as compared with 5,973,128 lb. for the same month in1946 but no estimate is made for freezings for firms failing to report. HADDOCK Stocks of frozen Haddock totallecl2,335,575 lb. of ithich 1,891,684 lb. were Frozen Fresh and443,891 lb. Frozen 5moked (notincluding Fillets) Haddock Holdings were ,397 lb. more than at the same date last yearand 237,119 lb. more than the stocks on hand last month. There were lb. reportedas having been frozen during August while for the corresponding month in 1946 freezings were 390,771 lb. FILLETS Frozen 5moked fillets of Cod,Hsddock and Other Fish amounted to 2,438,814 lb. as compared with 1,770,557 lb. last yearand2,567,673 lb. last month. There were 241,353 lb. reported asfrozen during'august1947. SALMON Frozen Salmorrholdings at September i, were 5,202,251 lb. as compared with 4,359,763 lb. last year and 3,530,904 lb ).a8t month. The apparent net increase during August was 3.7 million lb. as compared with a similar movement of 2.(mIl1ion lb. during the same month in firms. Freezlngs during August were2,732,786 lb. without estimating for late SEA HERRiNG Frozen stocks of herring including kippers, were 12,441,758 lb. being 1'resh 10,961,23 lb. and Smoked 1,480,525 lb. Last yearat the same date the combined figures were 9, lb. This month's stocks show an increase of 4, lb. over last month's holdings. The quantity reported as frozen during August was 5,194,610 lb. as compared with freezings of 4,142,518 lb. for August Some firus, however, have not yet reported. OTHER Other frozen stocks amounted to 22,502,047 lb. being Frozen Fresh 22,401,569 lb. and Frozen Smoked (not including fillets) 100,478 lb. All other fish reported as having been frozen during August were lb. but some firms had not yet reported and no estimate is made of their freezings.
