2 COLD STORA1Z HOLDINGS OF FISH NOVLMBER 1, 1951 ALL FISH Stocks of all frozen fish in Canada amounted to 57,540,000 lb. on November 1, 1951, of which 54,689,000 lb, were frozen fresh and 2,851,000 lb. frozen smoked. In these figures eatlmatee of 335,000 The frozen fresh and 15,000 lb. frozen smoked are included for firms failing to report on time These holairags are higher by 6,795,000 lb, frozen fresh, but lower by 274,000 lb. frozen smoked than those at October 1, Compared with November 1, 1950, figures they are lower by 3, lb. frozen fresh and by 331,000 lb. frozen smoked. There was an "intostorage" movement for all classifications of 6. 5 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 3.2 million pounds during October, 1950, SEA FISH COD Stocks of frozen cod, not including estimates for late firms, were 6,842,000 lb., consisting of 5,252,000 lb, frozen fresh and 1,590,000 lb. frozen smoked. The apparent net decrease during October was 522,000 lb. as compared with a similar movement of 90,000 lb. during October, The quantity reported as having been frozen during October was 3,022,000 lb., but no estimate is made for firms falling to report on time. H.ADDOCK Stocks of frozen haddock, not including estimates for late firms, totalled 1,932,000 lb. of which 1,719,000 lb. were frozen fresh and 213,000 lb. frozen smoked. Haddock holdings were 783,000 lb. higher than the stocks on hand last year and 76,000 lbs lower than last month. There were 614,000 lb. reported as having been frozen during October, SALMON Frozen salmon stocks at November 1 were 15,439,000 lb. without estimating for late firms, as compared with 16,845,000 lb. last year and 9,848,000 lb, last month. The apparent net increase during October was 5.6 million pounds as compared with a similar movement of 3.8 million pounds during the same month of Freezing8 during October were 6,497,000 lb. SEA HERRING Frozen stocks of herring, including kippers, were reported as being 7,348,000 lb. of which 6,455,000 lb, were fresh and 893,000 lb. smoked. Last year at the same date the combined figure was 12, lb. This month's figures show an increase of 222,000 lb o over last month's stocks. The quantity frozen during October was 996,000 lb. OThER SEA FISH Other frozen stocks amounted to 19,199,000 lb., being reported as frozen fresh, 19,098,000 lb, and frozen smoked, 101,000 lb. All other sea fish reported as having been frozen during October totalled 3,766,000 lb. INLAND FISH There were on hand 6,424,000 lb, of inland fish frozen fresh and 6,000 lb, frozen smoked. There were 961,000 lb. of inland fish frozen during the month of October, 1951.
