2 ABA BUSINESS LAW SECTION SPRING MEETING NEW WELCOME TO NEW ORLEANS! New Orleans is one of the oldest cities in America, celebrating its 300th anniversary in New Orleans has more than 35,000 buildings on the National Register of Historic Places, 15,000 more than its closest competitor, Washington, D.C. New Orleans is a melting pot of culture, food and music, the birthplace of jazz and one of the top three culinary destinations in the world. Among New Orleans s many historic neighborhoods are those closest to the ABA Business Law Section 2017 Spring Meeting Hotel, the Hyatt Regency: the French Quarter, the Garden District, and the Warehouse District. The French Quarter is one of the most historic neighborhoods in the country, featuring historic sites and fine dining. The Garden District features the New Orleans streetcar line past some of the most beautiful homes in the city. The Warehouse District is home to a thriving arts and museum district that includes the National World War II Museum and the Ogden Museum of Southern Art. This Guide offers ABA Business Law Section 2017 Spring Meeting Attendees just a sampling of all that New Orleans s neighborhoods have to offer for restaurants and entertainment. The first section of our Guide offers you a snapshot of selected events happening this April in New Orleans. Enjoy! Note: There are many more terrific options for dining and fun that we could not include in this Guide due to space constraints. While we did not include a separate section for visitors with children or for excursions beyond the City, this information is readily available. NOTABLE EVENTS AND ATTRACTIONS: French Quarter Festival This annual festival is April 6-9, It s a great opportunity to sample music, food, and drink. Dedicated to supporting local music, French Quarter fest features only local artists, with more than 400 musical performances on twenty-three stages throughout the French Quarter. Food and beverage is available from over 50 local vendors. Admission is free. For more info visit New Orleans Streetcar As well as providing functional transportation, the streetcars are a great way to see the city. There are four lines connecting to various attractions, the most popular being the Charles line, which travels along Charles Avenue past dozens of mansions, historic monuments, Loyola and Tulane universities and Audubon Park. Another popular streetcar line is the Canal Street line, which takes you to some of New Orleans famous aboveground cemeteries and the New Orleans Museum of Art in City Park. These lines can now be accessed via stops in front of the Hyatt Regency. Information available at Audubon Nature Institute and City Park The Audubon Nature Institute operates ten museums and parks dedicated to nature, including Audubon Park, Audubon Zoo, Aquarium of the Americas, and the Audubon Insectarium. City Park is a 1,300 acre park with miles of jogging, biking and walking trails, the New Orleans Museum of Art, Besthoff Sculpture Garden, Morning Call Café for beignets, and more. Frenchmen Street For live music fans, this two-block stretch in the Faubourg Marigny neighborhood near the French Quarter features a dozen music clubs. Food and drink are abundant and cheap, plus there s the late night Frenchmen Art Market. Check out for details

3 Magazine Street For locally owned shops and boutiques, visit Magazine Street, which has several miles of shopping stretching from the New Orleans downtown area to Audubon Park.
