2 RSM Club Gin Month Week 1: 6 10 June Negroni The Negroni dates back to Italy in 1919 and was a variation on the classic Americano cocktail. Count Camillo Negroni asked his bartender, Fosco Scarselli, to make the drink stronger so (being a man of taste and style) he added gin. The Count Negroni was born but it soon became known simply as the Negroni. Warner Edwards Harrington Dry Gin 44% ABV Campari Antica formula Sugar syrup Garnish: Pink grapefruit peel Glassware: Rocks Method: Simply stir over ice in the glass Warner Edwards Harrington Dry Gin is intense, well rounded and complex; bursting with botanical flavour. It is aromatic and spicy, with scents of elderflower, delicate citrus, ginger and cardamom flavours, with a sweet, moreish aftertaste. Warner Edwards Victoria s Rhubarb Gin Signature Serve Warner Edwards Victoria s Rhubarb Gin is very special as it is made with a crop of rhubarb that was originally grown in the kitchen gardens of Buckingham Palace during the reign of Queen Victoria. Warner Edwards Victoria s Rhubarb Gin 40% ABV Fever Tree ginger ale Garnish: Lime wedge Method: Squeeze the lime into a glass, add the ice cubes, gin and ginger ale and stir gently Warner Edwards Victoria s Rhubarb Gin is an amazingly British drink; this spicy gin is dominated by rhubarb and comes alive with the addition of ginger ale.

3 Week 2: June English Garden The English Garden cocktail is a traditional patio cocktail; a pairing of cucumber, apple and mint, fresh from an English garden this drink is delightfully refreshing. Warner Edwards Harrington Elderflower gin 40% ABV Apple juice Sugar syrup Lime juice Garnish: Cucumber Ribbon & Mint Method: Shake and Strain Warner Edwards Harrington Elderflower Gin is a slightly sweet gin on the front of the pallet and gives way to a lovely subtle elderflower finish. Hendricks Gin and Tonic The history of the G&T began to take shape in the East India Trading Company and British colonial India, when the British troops would mix their medicinal quinine with gin, making it more palatable. It wasn t the first time quinine was used to treat malaria as there are reports of its usage in The rise of the G&T as a drink can be traced back to the early days of Queen Victoria and expatriates returning from the Indian colonies who had developed a taste for the concoction. This was also a time when carbonised drinks became more widely available. Hendricks Gin 44% ABV Tonic water Garnish: 3 thinly sliced rounds of cucumber Method: Fill the glass with cubed ice, combine all ingredients and give a gentle stir Hendricks Gin consists of flowers, roots, fruits, and seeds from all over the world, functioning to complement and set the stage for a delicious duet of infusions; rose petal and cucumber.

4 RSM Club Gin Month Week 3: June Sloesecco The Sloesecco is a Harrington Sloe Gin recipe devised by Warner Edwards. They were often asked for alternative ways to serve Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin so after experimenting with the fizz, they added a raspberry puree which resulted in a touch of sweetness. Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin 30% ABV Prosecco Sugar syrup (optional) Raspberry puree (optional) Garnish: Orange twist Glassware: Coupette glass Method: Stir all ingredients (excluding the Prosecco) together and pour into coupette glass Warner Edwards Harrington Sloe Gin is wonderfully rich and deep in flavour, fruit and an underlying sweetness come together to give a velvet flavour, finishing with a satisfying warmth. Pomada The perfect drink for warm weather; ice cold local gin from Menorca mixed with lemonade. Back in the 18th Century Britain was given the island of Menorca and part of The Navy was promptly moved there. The sailors had a bit of a weakness for gin but it wasn t very easy to come by so the locals started making their own version infused with the local herbs on the island. Xoriguer Gin 38% ABV Lemonade Garnish: Slice of lemon Method: Fill a highball glass with ice, add the gin, lemonade and lemon slice and stir well Xoriguer Gin is the result of distillation in traditional copper stills, using high quality wine alcohol and carefully selected juniper berries, which come from the neighbouring Mediterranean mountains, together with aromatic herbs. These herbs are the jealously guarded secret of the liquor s original bouquet. Only the heirs of the family know the identity and proportion of this valuable ingredient.

5 Week 4: 27 June 1 July Martini Undoubtedly the most famous of gin cocktails, the Martini is a symbol of style and sophistication. The iconic cocktail s history begins with a drink called the Martinez which is also the name of a town in California which claims to be the geographical birthplace of the drink we now call the Martini. Martin Miller s Gin 40% ABV Dry Vermouth Garnish: Olive over twist Glassware: Martini Method: Shake or stir over ice and pour into a cocktail glass Martin Miller s Gin has a full citrus taste with the juniper notes emerging half way through. It has a clean soft finish, underpinned by warming cassia notes. Warner Edwards Harrington Elderflower Signature Serve The Warner Edwards Harrington Elderflower Signature Serve was inspired by Tom Warner s mother, Adèle. Served with tonic water, the freshness of the gin is enhanced and the elderflower finish is sparkling. 6 RSM Club Gin Month Warner Edwards was established by two great friends, both sons of farmers, Tom Warner and Sion Edwards. Based in Northamptonshire, Warner Edwards is handcrafted in small batches using a combination of natural spring water from the Warner family farm, pure grain spirit, 11 magnificent botanicals and handpicked elderflower. Martin Miller s original gin was first developed in 1998 and was launched in 1999 making it the original Super Premium Gin. Made to a traditional London Dry Style in flavour profile and dryness, this gin uses a mix of traditional distilling methods. Breaking tradition, there are two separate distillations for the juniper and earthier botanicals which are then blended with a second separate distillation of the citrus elements of bitter orange peel from Seville, lemon and lime peel.

7 Hendricks Gin is a combination of two different spirits from two rare and unusual stills; the Bennet still and the Carter-Head still. By combining the two, an extraordinary smooth gin is created. Their botanical signature consists of flowers, roots, fruits, and seeds from all over the world. uk.hendricksgin.com Xoriguer Gin has an unusual history in that it originates from the island of Menorca. First occupied in 1708 during the War of Spanish Succession, it was formally ceded to Great Britain in 1713 at the Treaty of Utrecht. Sailors and soldiers stationed on the island frequented local taverns but were unable to find gin. A group of Mahón craftsmen began importing juniper berries, which were not native to the island, and distilled gin using wine alcohol from Mediterranean vineyards. Senor Miguel Pons Justo, head of one of the first Menorcan families to produce the local gin, christened their creation Xoriguer.
