1 Quaker Steak & Lube History In 1974, Co-founders Gary Moe Meszaros and George Jig Warren bought a vacant automobile service station and converted it into a restaurant and bar appropriately named Quaker Steak & Lube. Its simple menu featured steaks, burgers, salads and baked potatoes, and customers were invited to cook your own steak. But the primary attraction was the venue itself, filled with a fantastic array of automotive memorabilia. Classic cars, racing cars, hot rods and motorcycles hung from the ceiling, and the floor and walls were crowded with old gas pumps and racing paraphernalia. In 1976, the menu was expanded to include the newly popular Buffalo-style chicken wings. Prepared with a choice of unique sauces of their own creation, Quaker Steak & Lube s wings began to attract a large following. In 1988, they received their first major award voted Best Wings in the USA, winning the National Chicken-Out competition in Cleveland, Ohio. Today, there are 21 different wing sauces with their degrees of hotness described on the menu s Wing-O-Meter. The cult following of its wings, spurred by an imaginative promotional schedule, has made Quaker Steak & Lube immensely popular. The Lube claims a wide and highly loyal base of customers, a demographic that chain executives call 2 to 82. On any given day, the restaurant will be visited by all demographics, including singles, couples, families, sports enthusiasts, seniors and the young without skewing heavily to any one group.

Truckloads of chicken wings arrive daily from the nation s top chicken processors, and Tabasco and Frank s RedHot sauce are purchased in 55-gallon drums. Since 1997, Quaker Steak & Lube franchises have opened in other locations throughout the United States. And highly experienced restaurant franchise experts have joined the organization to assist qualified investors and operators in bringing this exciting concept to new areas of the country. Quaker Steak & Lube, was recently named Best Family Friendly Dining in the Cleveland market and brought home 1 st and 2 nd places for chicken wing sauces from the National Buffalo Wing Festival in Buffalo, New York. The Lube also won three Golden Chile Awards (1 st place) for its sauces at the Fiery Food Challenge. 3 Ain t No Secret It's the Sauce!! Chicken wings can be ordered in six different quantities, from just six wings to a Team bucket that serves the whole gang. The choice of 18 sauces ranges from the gentle Ranch to the blazing Atomic (so hot you have to sign a release form). You can also mix The Lube sauces to create your own unique flavor, and most people do! Quaker Steak Dinners (STEAK IS OUR MIDDLE NAME) Thick-cut sirloins, New York strips and steak combos featuring USDA choice and house prime beef aged 28 days, all char-grilled to perfection. Baby back ribs and popular chicken dishes round out the menu. Brickyard Burgers and Sandwiches Half-pound burgers with a choice of toppings, plus Lube Original signature sandwiches you don t find anywhere else like the Lubeburger! Fresh Salads There s a lot to choose from here, including Sirloin Steak or Chicken Caesar and the #1 favorite our original Boneless Wing Salad with the choice of any wing sauce or salad lube. The interior is divided into several rooms, each with an atmosphere of its own, created by engaging memorabilia and full-size classic vehicles suspended from the ceiling and walls. Thunder Alley captures the spirit of racing, with actual race cars overhead. The Vette VVVroom is dedicated to America s favorite sports car, with a genuine Fifties atmosphere. The Handle Bar appeals to the bike lover, with motorcycles of all descriptions overhead. The Body Shop offers patrons the opportunity to buy Quaker Steak & Lube souvenirs and gifts, including T-shirts, sweatshirts, hats, as well as the famous Lube wing sauces they can take home with them.
