2 MR WILKINSON Matt Wilkinson hails from the rolling pastures and industrial jungle of Barnsley, South Yorkshire in northern England. Charming and ever-so-modest, Matt s foodie muscles were carved under Michelin-starred chef Martin Wishart before arriving in Australia where he worked at Vue de monde and Circa. In 2010, he and business soulmate Ben Foster opened Pope Joan in East Brunswick, Melbourne - a neighbourhood café by day and casual eatery by night. Pope Joan now has a produce store and takeaway hub, Hams and Bacon, nestled alongside which offers products from Matt s favourite producers and now his very own range of comestibles to slather on top. His first book, Mr Wilkinson s Favourite Vegetables, was published in 2012 and has since been translated into nine languages and sold 100,000 copies worldwide. His second book is due for release in early ABOUT MR WILKINSON S PRODUCTS Pope Joan chef and co-owner Matt Wilkinson has released his first range of Mr Wilkinson s pantry products, The Relish Range, which includes six delicious products: Red Sauce, Brown Sauce, Tomato Kasundi, Ploughman s Pickle, Pineapple Chutney and Piccalilli. The Mr Wilkinson s range is locally made by, Cunliffe and Waters (one of Australia s leading handmade preserving companies) using Matt s own recipes. The first range of Mr Wilkinson s products features my favourite relishes made from recipes that we use at Pope Joan including our infamous brown sauce, says Matt Wilkinson.

3 This has been a favourite with Pope Joan regulars since day one, on the classic Pope Joan sandwich: egg, bacon, brown sauce. Simple and tasty! Mr. Wilkinson s Brown Sauce is sweet and spicy, with a base of onions, prunes, apples and molasses, with just a touch of vinegar and fresh tamarind pulp for an acid kick, and a special blend of spices. Mr Wilkinson s Piccalilli is a hearty mix of cauliflower, kohl rabi, zucchini, onions and gherkins cooked in a gorgeous sauce of mustard and turmeric powders and finished with a good kick of malt vinegar. It is a sweet vegetable pickle originating in India and loved by the Brits, delicious in sandwiches or as a condiment to curries! RRP: $9.95 Wholesale price: $ ml 360g BROWN SAUCE PICCALILLI Who could forget the taste of Grandma s homemade tomato relish? Sweet and complex, slow-cooked and full of love. Mr Wilkinson s Red Sauce is as close to Gran s tomato sauce as it s possible to get without a blue-rinse and a hairnet. He has thrown in some onions and garlic for sweetness, and some spice just to keep it interesting. RRP: $9.95 Wholesale price: $ ml Kasundi is a tasty little tomato sauce that gives a lovely punch of Indian spice without too much heat. Mr Wilkinson s Tomato Kasundi is a perfect match for sausages, grilled lamb chops or chicken, or slathered inside just about any type of sandwich. Made from a perfect medley of tomatoes, ginger, garlic and mild chillies, combined with black mustard seeds, apple cider vinegar and a bit of brown sugar. 320g RED SAUCE TOMATO KASUNDI

4 As the name suggests, Mr Wilkinson s Ploughman s Pickle is the perfect addition to your Ploughman s lunch; a great foil for a bitey cheddar, maybe a slice of terrine, and some crusty bread. Cauliflower, carrot, turnip, onions, apple, dates, gherkins and a little garlic are all chopped finely, and cooked slowly in a sauce of blended spices, lemon juice, malt vinegar, brown sugar, and Worcestershire sauce. 350g PLOUGHMAN S PICKLE Mr Wilkinson s Pineapple Chutney is killer with a good ol Gamon steak: top with a fried egg, maybe green beans or asparagus for a bit of healthy colour and you ve got yourself a ridiculously simple meal. The natural sweetness of the fruit is balanced by cooking it with onions, a hit of curry spices, a touch of garlic and white wine vinegar to round it all out. 360g PINEAPPLE CHUTNEY
