1 You know where it comes from. From Austria s organic farmers.
2 From production to marketing It all comes Von Herzen, from the heart. VON HERZEN Biobauern GmbH has existed in its current form since Austrian organic farmers joined forces with the future in mind. Every year around 13,000 tons of organic apples and pears are marketed through this platform. The marketing organisation connects producers, packing stations and food retailers. Around one fifth of Austrian agricultural land is cultivated subject to the strict guidelines of organic farming. Our climate, the fertile soil and our farmers, who practice organic farming because they believe in it, guarantee the consistently high quality of our produce. The organic farmers of VON HERZEN are committed to the continuous expansion of organic farming, which is beneficial to our consumers as well as to the environment. Martin Pfeiffer, general manager VON HERZEN Biobauern Österreich stands for the best organic agricultural produce from Austria. greater and direct added value for farmers. appreciation of Austrian farming culture. transparency throughout the production chain. reliable trade relations. The production of VON HERZEN Biobauern is characterised as follows: organic plant protection using all beneficial insects and biotechnical methods as well as natural substances to strengthen plants and protect the fruit. use of organic fertilisers and compost to promote soil life for healthy plant nutrition. mechanical weed control and promoting biodiversity. specialist knowledge in organic farming through many years of experience and the integration of new technologies. GMO-free farming. socially responsible treatment of employees.
3 More quality with certainty. We take responsibility. ISO 9001:2008 Quality assurance The VON HERZEN Biobauern businesses offer a wide range of organic fruit. Specifically this means doing the right thing for each culture to harvest high quality fruit. State-accredited supervisory authorities permanently inspect the entire production process. Our organic farmers have the highest standards and produce in accordance with more stringent guidelines than those prescribed by EU Regulations 834/2007 and 889/2008. Optimised storage for the highest quality requirements In the autumn the almost 13,000 tons of VON HERZEN Biobauern apples and pears are delivered to the packing stations, where they are immediately stored in cold storage cells and put into hibernation. Due to the low oxygen content of the cold storage cells with temperatures between one and two degrees Celsius the breathing of the apples and pears is reduced to a minimum. The latest storage technologies enable optimum storage conditions, which keeps the apples crisp and fresh. The VON HERZEN Biobauern quality assurance comprises: organic guidelines according to EU Regulations 834/2007 and 889/2008 BIO AUSTRIA standard AMA organic seal of approval Naturland standard GLOBALG.A.P. Internal residue monitoring The packing stations of VON HERZEN offer International Food Standard (IFS) ISO 9001:2008 GLOBALG.A.P.
