2 Farm Spotlight: County Line Harvest David Retsky started County Line Harvest on a six-acre plot on the Sonoma-Marin County line before moving over the hill in 2007 to Red Hill Ranch in Marin County. Shortly after settling in on the new property, Marin Agriculture Land Trust acquired the easement on Red Hill Ranch, preserving it forever as farmland. Not only did this new property provide more acreage for cultivation, but the abundance of renewable on-site water and the MALT easement helped ensure the continuation of County Line's goal to provide fresh produce to its surrounding communities. Avocado: No change on supply and price this week from Mexico truck crossing is steady and quality has been nice. Endive: Red, White, and Mix Endive supply is steady this week; Coraline Chicory is available with good supply. Treviso and Radicchio are coming from Salinas. Herbs: 12ct Basil and most other herbs are Mexican grown now. 60ct Italian Parsley, Knoll Farms Organic Rosemary and Sage supplies and prices are steady. We are stocking Organic Chives, Cilantro, Italian Parsley, Mint, Oregano, Sage, Tarragon and Thyme. Chives, Chervil, Dill, Marjoram, Oregano, Sage, Tarragon and Thyme are mainly coming from Mexico; Mint is still coming from California through January. Mache: Hydro Mache and Upland Cress supply are steady coming from Pennsylvania; shipment comes Cheese & Specialty in late Thursday and Saturday pick up at united airlines. Red Watercress is available from Florida. Melons: 9ct Cantaloupes are from Guatemala now, with steady supply and prices. MX grown Honeydews are still very good quality with prices steady or down this week. We ve switched to 6ct Seedless Watermelons in boxes instead of bins. They re available per 6ct case or by the each.

Oyster Mushrooms are limited coming from Monterey County and limited from Canada. Supplies have tightened and prices are up, quality good. Local California grown Peas have finished. Pears: Forelle pear season is done in Washington. Bosc, Comice, D anjou, Red and Seckle pears are coming from Washington. California Shinko Asian pear is grown in Tulare County. Peppers: Organic Red Bells and Padron Peppers in stock. Central Mexican grown Green Red and Yellow Bell Pepper supplies and prices are down this week. Potatoes: WA State Russet Potato supplies are tightening and prices are up a little.
