2 Quality and Product News: Weather Watch: Cool weather in Northern MX slows growth of Honeydew, Seedless Watermelon, Zucchini & Yellow Squash; supplies limited, strong market. Freezing weather throughout CA, AZ & Northern MX damaged all crops last week; we re waiting to find out to what extent after this disruptive weather passes. Because of recent hard frosts, there are many price increases & product shortages. Cauliflower is especially limited & a very strong market, having more than doubled over the past week. Citrus: Limes all MX grown; between crops currently. Prices sky high & we are subbing 175ct to fill orders. Most all available fruit is running quite large. Market is expected to rise thru March. Lemon market easing as the Central Valley is in production now. Tropicals: Hawaiian Papayas are still extremely short-anything coming in is very green. Bananas remain limited because of flooding in Costa Rica & Guatemala. Adding to this is unseasonably cold weather in Guatemala. Please, buy ahead because fruit is landing unripe. As of now there is no relief expected for at least a month. 3 Farm Spotlight: Coke Farm Coke Farm has been producing a variety of organically grown fruits and vegetables for over thirty years. With 200+ acres of farm they harvest over 50 crop varieties each year and ship products out daily. In addition to growing and shipping their own produce, Coke Farm also cools, stores, and ships for several smaller local organic farms. Thanks to our mild California climate, they can grow every day of the year, with something unique in every season.
