2 Quality and Product News: REMINDER: Our new reduced Sunday service goes into effect this week. Make sure to check the website for more information. English Cucumber supply & quality are improving, but market remains strong. New crops slowly starting over the next few weeks should bring relief. Belgian Endive: Availability remains very limited for local White Endive. Old root yield is very low; grower holding back harvest this week. Expect this issue to run until sometime in October when new roots will be ready for harvest. We have only a limited amount of imported Endive to help cover your needs as that supply exceeds demand. Edible Flowers: Fresh Origins is seeing heat related issues on most of their Edible Flowers & Blossoms; availability is hit or miss. However, their Violas seem to be unaffected supply of local Violas remain limited. Lemon Update: MX grown fancy 115, 140 & 165ct in stock this week. Overall market remains very hot (including ), but easing a little to start the week. County Line Lettuce Update: We have a limited amount of County Line Baby Mixed Lettuce in stock, & are filling in as best we can with Coke Farms & Faurot Ranch Baby Mixed Lettuce. New crop from SoCal (Thermal, County Line) expected to start up in October. Potato Update: Bakersfield season is ending. We ll pretty much be into all WA State Spuds by end of September. Stonefruit Update: Frog Hollow s Yellow Peach variety now is Cal Red, the last variety of the Summer, & it s a very flavorful Peach! Heirloom Tomatoes: Fall is here which means the Heirloom Tomato season is rapidly ending. Minimal stock on organic mixed heirloom packs with many varieties completely done for the season. 3 Farm Spotlight: Coke Farms One of Greenleaf s longest standing partners is the family run Coke Farms out of San Juan Bautista, California. Coke Farms was founded in 1981 by Dale Coke who grew organic strawberries on his 1/4 acre farm. Since then, Coke Farm has grown and evolved from an organic farming operation into a thriving organic produce aggregation company. Their produce hub represents a diverse group of local organic fruit and vegetable growers located in and around the central coast. They work with growers to develop growing plans, as well as receiving, cooling, selling and shipping a wide variety of organic produce. Their modern shipping and cooling facility operates year round in San Juan Bautista, California, and they pride themselves on offering consistently high quality organic and specialty produce to local, regional, national and international markets.
