More to follow in the coming months! Belgian Endive: Availability remains limited for all local Endive. Old root yield is very low; grower holding back harvest this week. Expect this issue to run for the next few weeks. They are anticipating the week of October 22 to be up to full production! We have only a limited amount of imported Endive to help cover your needs; supply is tight with increased demand. English Cucumber supplies remain limited & expensive this week. New crops from Baja, the US & Canada slowly coming on over the next few weeks should bring relief. 3 Farm Spotlight: Oz Farms Oz Farm is hidden in a quiet, private valley on one of the most pristine stretches of the scenic Mendocino County coast, 130 miles north of San Francisco. Bordered with redwood forest, and with the Garcia River running through its 240 acres, Oz Farm is blessed with tranquility, fresh air and clear water. Oz Farm is 'off-the-grid', using solar and wind power for all its operations. Oz Farm grows apples, pears and a large variety of vegetables. They have 17 acres certified organic by California Certified Organic Farmers. and pears are a special feature of the Oz Farming operation. They specialize in the production of unusual and antique apples that are "espaliered" (trained on trellises in rows much like grapes in vineyards). The farm owners are Andrew Brait, Judith Redmond, Paul Muller, Dru Rivers, Jenna Muller, and Amon Muller.
