Drink now through (WS) 6782 Chateau Ausone Saint-Émilion $ One of the vintage s most compelling wines, Alain Vauthier s beloved 2004 Ausone remains among the most concentrated wines of the vintage. On the palate, the wine exhibits exceptional power and concentration, but this historic terroir has also provided a surreal lightness to the wine s impression. Beautiful flavors, sensational depth, and abundant structure suggest this 2004 will not be close to full maturity for 8-10 years. It should last for four decades. (RP) 9378 Chateau Phelan-Segur Saint-Estèphe $57.50 A distinctive earthy, spicy character along with hints of camphor, black currants and raspberries emerge from this medium-bodied Soft tannins, a seductive mouthfeel and surprising length suggest this wine can be drunk now and over the next decade. (RP) 8098 Chateau Phelan-Segur 'Frank Phelan' Saint-Estèphe $38.38 Dried herb, with hints of nutmeg and fruit on the nose. Medium-bodied, with fine tannins and clean fruit. A little lean, but balanced and refreshing. Best after (WS) 7530 Chateau Cos Labory Saint-Estèphe $57.75 This firm, tannic hard, and austere wine displays an impressive dark ruby/purple color as well as some background underbrush and black currants. (RP) Les Pagodes de Cos Saint-Estèphe $63.74 Offers coffee bean, red fruits and hints of dried herb on the nose. Medium-bodied, with some berry and herb. Light finish. Slightly diluted. Second wine of Cos Marquis de Calon Saint-Estèphe $41.17 The second wine of the Calon Segur, this classic St. Estèphe shows aromas of sweet red fruit and touches of lavender and spice. Ripe and soft for the appellation, this wine drinks well now with an hour of decanting Le Carre Saint-Émilion $80.85 An outstanding effort for the vintage, this 2007 exhibits a perfumed personality with lots of blue, red, and black fruits intermixed with graphite and subtle oak. Surprisingly rich with silky tannins and a long, heady, fleshy finish, it should drink well for years. (RP) Le Dome Saint-Émilion $ An opaque purple color is followed by notes of graphite, mulberries, blueberries and flowers. The 2008 is broad, savory and medium to full-bodied with sweet tannins, decent acidity, a textured, complex mouthfeel and no hard edges. It should drink nicely for years. (RP) Les Asteries Saint-Émilion $ Offers raspberry, sweet licorice and fresh tarragon on the nose. Full-bodied, with refined tannins and a lovely mouthfeel and texture. Goes long and far on the palate. Very well-made for the vintage. A beauty. Best after (WS) PAGE 11

11451 Les Asteries Saint-Émilion $ A superb effort, the dense purple-colored 2008 offers a beautiful nose of new saddle leather, kirsch, black currants, licorice and spice box, medium to full body, ripe tannins, a luscious texture and a long, layered mouthfeel and finish. Sadly, this beauty is very limited in availability. It should drink well for years. (RP) 9398 Chateau Lagrange Saint-Julien $75.93 The dark ruby/purple-hued 2008 reveals an angular, austere personality along with medium to full-bodied, deep, concentrated fruit. An unusually backward and highly tannic 2008, it will benefit from 3-4 years of cellaring and should keep for 20 years. It is a very good wine. (RP) 6299 Les Fiefs de Lagrange Saint-Julien $85.00 Tar, dark chocolate and blackberry aromas follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with soft tannins and a delicate finish. Has a wonderful nose, but this falls a little short. Best after (WS) 9407 Les Arums de Lagrange Blanc Saint-Julien $39.00 White wine from Chateau Lagrange. Typically medim to full-bodied with vanilla, cream and apple on the palate Chateau Doisy-Daene Bordeaux Blanc Barsac $36.76 Expressive and laden with waxy grapefruit, lemons and rhubarb. A lovely, rich concentration to this, with buckets of flavour, yet a defined crispness to the fruit as well. This possesses poise, drive, breadth and depth Chateau Doisy-Daene Barsac $39.75 This has two sides for now a rich apricot, melon and creamed apple side, along with a brisker clementine, green fig and kiwifruit side. Delivers power and snap, richness and vibrancy. When they come together, this should be a winner. Best from 2013 through (WS) 9469 Chateau Boyd Cantenac Margaux $68.99 Although closed at present, the potentially outstanding 2008 exhibits a deep plum/purple color, elevated tannins and a more masculine style than most vintages. Good weight and purity along with hints of licorice, underbrush, black currants and subtle smoky oak are found in this firm effort. Give it 4-5 years of bottle age, and drink it over the following 15+. (RP) 8612 Chateau Latour Pauillac $1, An evolved dark ruby color reveals amber at the edge. The nose offers aromas of caramel, coffee, ripe black cherry and currant fruit, cedar, and spice box. Although medium-bodied, with low acidity, the wine lacks richness in the mid-palate, and is surprisingly abrupt in the finish. It is a very fine, delicious Latour, but it is hard to believe it will attain the weight and flavor dimensions its producers suggest. Anticipated maturity: now (RP) 8663 Chateau Couhins Blanc Pessac Léognan $40.00 Lemon, mineral and green apple character. Medium- to full-bodied, with lively acidity and bright fruit. (WS) 8342 R de Rieussec Sauternes $27.50 Mildly tangy nose with very well managed oak hardly perceptible but just giving it a nice little stiffening. Nectarine notes and this builds on the palate. PAGE 12

10062 Blanc de Lynch Bages Pauillac $73.60 Although tart, understated and restrained, this cuvee offers lots of grapefruit characteristics. (RP) Carruades de Lafite Pauillac $ A classic example of a second wine, the 2005 Carruades de Lafite reveals a dark ruby hue with some pink showing at the rim. The moderately intense nose of graphite, forest floor, and sweet black currant fruit is followed by a medium-bodied, elegant wine with light to moderate tannin. Drink it over the next years. (RP) Chateau Lynch Bages Pauillac $ Beginning to open magnificently, the still dense purple-colored 2000 reveals a blossoming bouquet of blackberries, cassis, graphite and pen ink. Full-bodied with velvety tannins that have resolved themselves beautifully over the last eleven years, this wine is still an adolescent, but it exhibits admirable purity, texture, mouthfeel and power combined with elegance. One of the all-time great examples of Lynch Bages, the 2000 is just beginning to drink well yet promises to last for another years. (RP) 7644 Chateau Montrose Saint-Estèphe $ A blend of approximately two-thirds Cabernet Sauvignon, one-third Merlot, and a tiny dollop of Petit Verdot, the most dramatic difference between the 2006, and wines made by the previous administration is that Jean Delmas produces wines with sweeter, silkier tannins, although analytically, they are as high as those found in the great Montrose vintages of the past. The 2006 is extraordinarily elegant and finesse-styled, but it exhibits stunningly concentrated, sweet blackberry and cassis fruit with hints of flowers and minerals. Full-bodied with a savory, expansive mid-palate as well as sweet, noble tannins, this beauty will benefit from 3-4 years of bottle age, and should drink well for years. (RP) 9470 Chateau Montrose Saint-Estèphe $ One of the superstars of the vintage, this classic Montrose offers a dense purple color followed by gorgeously sweet black raspberry and black currant fruit intermixed with loamy, earthy, forest floor notes, a floral component and a long, full-bodied finish. The 2008 was fashioned from yields of 44 hectoliters per hectare. Forget it for 5-8 years and drink it over the following 20+. (RP) 7897 Aile d'argent Blanc Pauillac $ Perhaps the finest white wine yet produced by Mouton Rothschild, this 2005 offers lovely notes of honeysuckle, tropical fruits, crushed rocks, and subtle wood. It is a delicious generic Bordeaux to consume over the next 4-5 years. (RP) 8838 Aile d'argent Blanc Pauillac $ The dry white wine from the staff at Mouton Rothschild is generally a blend of two-thirds Sauvignon Blanc and the rest Semillon, with usually one percent or so of Muscadelle added in the blend. This is an increasingly intriguing wine, and the 2006 exhibits plenty of honeysuckle, orange skin, and fig-like notes, with crisp, zesty acidity and a medium-bodied, fresh finish. Drink it over the next 5-6 years. (RP) Aile d'argent Blanc Pauillac $ Composed of 63% Sauvignon Blanc, 35% Semillon and 2% Muscadelle, it exhibits lots of minerality, more honeyed richness than remembered prior to bottling and a zesty finish. (RP) PAGE 13

8582 Chateau Mouton Rothschild Pauillac $ Composed of 81% Cabernet Sauvignon and 19% Merlot, the deep purple-colored 2007 Mouton reveals sweet aromas of creme de cassis, subtle oak, and flowers. Medium to full-bodied and elegant with sweet tannin as well as flavors and a texture that build incrementally on the palate, this strong effort should evolve over the next 15 years. (RP) 7654 Marojallia Margaux $ This is a quintessentially elegant Margaux, with a dense ruby/purple color and notes of charcoal, cassis, a hint of smoking embers, and a subtle touch of spring flower garden. Dense on the palate with medium to full-bodied flavors, superb concentration, and moderate tannin, this wine requires patience, but is impeccably well-made as usual. Anticipated maturity: (RP) 9406 Chateau Poujeaux Moulis $48.68 Another sleeper of the vintage, this beautifully plump, fleshy, corpulent 2008 exhibits a dense ruby/purple color as well as sweet blue and black fruit, smoke, earth and forest floor characteristics. Medium-bodied with outstanding concentration, purity and texture, it can be drunk now and over the next decade. (RP) 7579 Chateau Clos Fourtet Saint-Émilion $85.00 A blend of 80% Merlot and the rest equally split between Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, this wine has a dense purple color and a beautifully sweet nose of blackberry and blueberry fruits intermixed with acacia flowers, charcoal, and some subtle oak. The wine is nicely textured, medium-bodied, and very concentrated for a 2006 St.-Emilion, with a certain degree of opulence and sucrosite. This is a beauty, with moderate tannins in the finish. Anticipated maturity: (RP) 9561 Chateau Clos Fourtet Saint-Émilion $89.56 A strong effort, the 2008 was made from tiny yields of 28.5 hectoliters per hectare, and attained 14% natural alcohol. It reveals sweet licorice, black currant and blackberry fruit notes intermixed with truffle and asphalt characteristics in its pure, rich, opulent, full-bodied personality. One of the finest St.-Emilions of the vintage, it is far more accessible than the 2010 and should continue to drink well for years. (RP) 8415 Chateau La Pointe Pomerol $50.00 The 2007 La Pointe exhibits aromas of plum sauce, black cherries, coffee, and herbs in its medium-bodied, round, lush personality. Enjoy this attractive Pomerol over the next 5-7 years. (RP) 9440 Chateau La Pointe Pomerol $55.50 A correct, pleasant wine, the 2008 offers notes of dusty, loamy soil, cherries, herbs and oak. It is a mediumbodied, lightweight claret to drink over the next 6-8 years. (RP) 9455 Chateau Du Glana Saint-Julien $37.65 This has a nice fleshy feel to the roasted plum and fig notes, while graphite and charcoal flavors move underneath. A lightly dusty edge marks the finish. Drink now through (WS) 8539 Chateau Clerc Milon Pauillac $78.00 This impressive effort reveals more layers of flavor than most 2007s. Its deep ruby/purple color is followed by notes of black currants, coffee, and white chocolate, medium to full body, surprising density and purity, and a very good finish. Drink it over the next years. (RP) PAGE 14

9546 Chateau D'Armailhac Pauillac $68.15 A dense plum/purple color is followed by a supple, evolved, medium-bodied wine revealing an elegant bouquet of red and black currants, charcoal, toast and earth. Enjoy this impressive 2008 over the next years. (RP) 9680 Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac $ The wine possesses an opaque black/ruby/purple color, and sexy, flamboyant aromatics of pain grille, black fruits, and cedar. Exquisite on the palate, this full-bodied, layered, multidimensional wine should prove to be one of the vintage's most extraordinary success stories. Anticipated maturity: (RP) 9686 Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac $ Dense purple in color, with loads of coffee, mocha, creme de cassis, and chocolate notes, this is a somewhat unusual blend of 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 34% Merlot, and a whooping 10% Petit Verdot, with a little bit of Cabernet Franc. The Petit Verdot certainly gives the wine more of a tapenade, floral note, which can be interpreted by some as herbal. This is a rich, opulent, stunning Pichon Lalande that is beginning to drink beautifully, yet should continue to improve for at least another years and last 30 or more years. (RP) 7648 Chateau Pichon Comtesse de Lalande Pauillac $ Blackish ruby. Straightforward cassis and cigarbox nose, relatively evolved. Well melded but a little bit jagged in terms of acidity. Very well-managed tannins with some real class and appeal and succulence encased in some pretty impressive and assertive tannins. Very brutal finish. This should make exciting old bones. (JR) 9511 Chateau Carbonnieux Pessac Léognan $57.50 A pretty, seductive style of wine, the medium-bodied, dark plum/ruby-tinged 2008 exhibits generous quantities of black cherries, tobacco leaf, licorice and earth as well as loads of spice, an endearing, lush texture and rich fruit. Enjoy it now and over the next years. (RP) 9512 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc Pessac Léognan $67.25 This superb 2008 exhibits lots of fig, honeysuckle, orange zest and lemon butter notes. It should drink well for years. (RP) 8426 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc Pessac Léognan $60.00 Ripe nose with lime, gooseberry and a touch of cut grass: good definition and lift. The palate is ripe and full of grapefruit, lime and gooseberry notes, but just lacking some tension towards the finish. (RP) 7589 Chateau Carbonnieux Blanc Pessac Léognan $62.50 Crisp honeyed grapefruit, white currant, and some smoked herbs are present in this classic, textbook dry white from Pessac-Leognan. The texture is gorgeous, and the wine aromatic and pure. Drink it over the next 15 years. (RP) 9079 Clos des Jacobins Saint-Émilion $99.69 The finest wine made at this estate since 1982, this sleeper of the vintage possesses complex aromas of herbs, black currants, licorice, camphor, and hints of spicy oak as well as damp earth. It is a richly fruity, dense St. Emilion with a plush texture, sweet tannins, and gorgeous length. Consume it over the next years. (RP) PAGE 15

9453 Le Petit Cheval Saint-Émilion $ The 2008 Le Petit Cheval (65% Cabernet Franc and the rest Merlot) is a light, but not a wimpy wine. It is more cedary and evolved, with spice box, tobacco leaf, licorice, and red and black fruits in a medium-bodied, classic style that should drink nicely for years. (RP) 7991 Chateau Calon Segur Saint-Estèphe $ Loads of crushed berries, with mineral, lightly toasted oak and licorice. Full-bodied, with big, velvety tannins and a long, caressing finish. This is the sleeper of the vintage. Best after (WS) 6731 Chateau Cos d'estournal Saint-Estèphe $ It exhibits sweet berry fruit intermixed with spice box, herbs, and spring flowers. Expansive, round, and sensual, with wonderful purity as well as lushness, this irresistible wine can be enjoyed over the next 6-10 years. (RP) 6732 Chateau Cos d'estournal Saint-Estèphe $ A wine of extraordinary intensity and accessibility, the 1995 Cos d'estournel is a sexier, more hedonistic offering than the muscular, backward Opulent, with forward aromatics (gobs of black fruits intermixed with toasty pain grille scents and a boatload of spice), this terrific Cos possesses remarkable intensity, full body, and layers of jammy fruit nicely framed by the wine's new oak. Because of low acidity and sweet tannin, the 1995 will be difficult to resist young, although it will age for 2-3 decades. Anticipated maturity: (RP) 7649 Chateau Cos d'estournal Saint-Estèphe $ The exceptional 2006 Cos d Estournel is composed of 78% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Merlot, and 2% Petit Verdot, 55% of the production was utilized. Revealing superb intensity for a 2006 as well as an inky/blue/purple color, and a sweet bouquet of blue and black fruits, licorice, graphite, and charcoal, this full-bodied 2006 possesses high levels of sweet tannin. This wine is characterized by a freshness and precision that give it a 1996-like affinity. Enjoy this beautifully concentrated, exceptionally pure, statuesque Cos d Estournel over the next years. By the way, it was bottled without any fining or filtration. (RP) 9388 Chateau Cos d'estournal Saint-Estèphe $ This is a classic Cos revealing lots of tannin along with damp earth, black currant, sweet black cherry, graphite, licorice and truffle characteristics. This medium to full-bodied, structured, firm, broodingly backward, impenetrable effort demands 5-6 years of bottle age; it should drink well for years. (RP) 6737 Chateau Cos d'estournel Saint-Estèphe $ One of the candidates for wine of the vintage, this beauty has a dense purple color to the rim and a classic, noble nose of graphite intermixed with black currant, spice box, licorice, and red and black fruits. Medium to fullbodied with exceptional precision and definition, this beautifully textured wine stands out as one of the most successful wines of this irregular vintage. A brilliant effort, it should be at its best between 2008 and (RP) 7901 Chateau Cos d'estournel Blanc Saint-Estèphe $ This beauty exhibits copious notes of figs, melons, and green apple skins intermixed with mango, lemon zest, and nectarines. The wood component is barely detectable in this medium-bodied, stylish white. Drink it over the next 7-8 years. (RP) PAGE 16
