Editor: Deb Dutton, CEO, ddutton@rembrandtliving.org.au The Windmill Rembrandt Court Issue 152-29 October 2018 Home Care Hub 1 Madras Street, Oaklands Park SA 5046 21 Greenfields Drive, Green Fields SA 5107 Ph. 8198 0300 The weekly newsletter of Rembrandt Living Ph. 8198 0300 LIFESTYLE Birthdays in November: Happy Birthday to the following residents: 30 October Wendy Reynolds 12 November Colin Lock 13 November Nancy Poulain 16 November Ali van Soest 19 November Ana Culic 22 November Ina van Zoen 25 November Kata Hodak Resident Feedback Meeting The residents meeting on Wednesday 24 October was attended by residents, and 2 staff members. Discussed: Residents complimented Chef on today s meal of Butter Chicken and Vegetable Rendang best ever. The bacon served recently was excellent. Residents in House 6 and 7 are requesting a 4 slice toaster with automatic pop up rather than the large catering toaster currently used as this is often left on to run even when the toaster is not in use. Vegetation on footpath along Doreen Street to be cleared as this may present a risk to pedestrians. Residents wish to thank Alex (O.T.) for his excellent care and expertise in muscle therapy. Sinterklaas feest discussed. Residents reminded to fill out a maintenance request form (located near Reception) for any maintenance work. NEXT UIT EN THUIS Oaklands Park on Friday 2 November 2018, 10am: Morning Tea, Games and Sjoelen, Lunch and socialising till 2pm Green Fields on Friday 2 November 2018 at 10am: Morning Tea, Sjoelen, Lunch & Socialising till 2pm Goolwa Uit en Thuis in the Community Hub, Cnr Goolwa Tce and Loveday Street Every Thursday from to 4.00pm ASSISTANCE PLEASE! Families and Residents Representatives - we need your assistance! We need your assistance to spring clean (clothing) in wardrobes and drawers. Although new clothing is often added, old clothes no longer worn are left in the wardrobe. This is becoming an occupational health and safety issue for our staff who are at risk of shoulder injury by having to squeeze laundered clothing in to drawers and wardrobes. Please help to de-clutter as an abundance of clothing can also be confusing for residents. PLEASE BE AWARE Dementia Focussed Quiet Hour Over the past two months we have been working towards creating the ideal meal time environment for our residents in House 3 and 4. We have found that introducing a focus hour we have decreased distractions and improved food intake. We would like to encourage families to support us in keeping House 3 and 4 as quiet as possible between 11.45am and 12.45pm. Limit visits during this hour Avoid chit chat Keep movements to a minimum Families who assist their loved one to eat are still encouraged to continue to do this. IN MEMORY With deep sadness we announce that resident John van Antwerpen passed away at Noarlunga Hospital on Saturday 20 October 2018. We offer our sincere condolences to John s family and friends

Recently a body of work has been done to review the health and wellbeing of our staff, including attending external workshops, research and conducting small staff meetings. Our learning revealed that the increased care needs, particularly in House 3 & 4 are beginning to cause both mental and physical fatigue. In order to minimise this and moving forward we have reviewed our entire roster and made significant changes to the allocation of staff to allow every staff member the opportunity to work across all Houses. Please remain patient with all staff as they learn the different routines in each House.
