Discussed: House 6 residents particularly enjoyed the buffet breakfast this morning. Staff to remind residents the day prior re buffet breakfast. One comment received was that the Hash browns should not be covered as they are then no longer crisp and tend to fall apart. Vienna sausage serving too large residents unable to eat quantity provided. The chipolatas in the Mixed grill (Monday s evening meal) weren t good (skins too tough). Lunch time meal today (vegetarian option) of Nasi Goreng a number of residents prefer the recipe used by Lorraine. Residents in Hs 6 and 7 disappointed when regular staff are not available on weekends and agency staff are rostered on with one resident quoting not the same as the friendly service of our own staff. Lunch time serving in Hs 6 and 7 have been late the last few days due to a new trial being conducted by Hospitality Department with regards to serving pureed diets from the bain marie at the same time as regular meals are served. Residents are asked to be patient whilst the trial is conducted. Residents were pleased to hear that Jo (EN) has now joined the Lifestyle team. Any comment or image you post online may stay online forever because removing the original (say, from Twitter) does not remove any copies that other people made. There is no way for you to "take back" a remark you wish you hadn't made, or get rid of that embarrassing selfie you took at a party. Don't put anything online that you wouldn't want your mum or a prospective employer to see. FOR YOUR INFORMATION The Power of Music Within residential care, one of the greatest benefits of music therapy is the connection people can form with those around them. It can help people connect with their loved ones, and can offer them a form of connection with their carer. Music may address a wide range of client needs such as social, emotional, cognitive, psychological, physiological, behavioural, communication or spiritual needs. Possible benefits may be to: Increase socialisation and reduce isolation or withdrawal behaviours by providing an engaging aesthetic experience Provide cognitive stimulation, improve word recall, stimulate long-term memory skills, and maintain existing cognitive skills Improve motivation; increase self-esteem; promote opportunities for choice & control; provide an uplifting & enjoyable form of therapy Reduce anxiety, wandering, restlessness and inappropriate or difficult behaviours whilst promoting appropriate behaviours. Improve verbal and non-verbal communication and self expression. Music is a regular activity in our weekly program here at Rembrandt Court and can vary from singalongs, listening to a CD or watching a music DVD.
