HISTORY Bromley Court was created in 1776 as a country estate for Lord Farnborough whose coat of arms forms the basis of our current symbol. Many important politicians and royalty of the time including George IV, William IV, the Duke of Wellington and Prime Minister William Pitt the younger were regular visitors. In the 1930s the building was converted to a hotel and during the Second World War became a traditional haunt for the Battle of Britain pilots based down the road at Biggin Hill. The association with politics continued with visits from Prime Ministers Harold Macmillan (who held a Cabinet Meeting in the owner s flat), Edward Heath and Margaret Thatcher. The Hotel s ballroom played its part in the Swinging Sixties as a famous music venue for the likes of David Bowie, Jimmie Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Pink Floyd and Manfred Mann - they all played here. Images of these past residents are displayed throughout the hotel and on the inside cover of this menu.
