l l a b t e i g a w n o... H Since the beginning of their life together, Greg and Jolene Heikens always had a dream tucked away in the back of their minds to start their own business.

3 l l a b t e i g a w n o... H Since the beginning of their life together, Greg and Jolene Heikens always had a dream tucked away in the back of their minds to start their own business. That dream became a reality in 1996 when the Wellsburg Meat Locker became available for sale. At the time, Greg was an accomplished Journeymen Meat Cutter for a large grocery chain, so the locker was a perfect fit for him and it wasn t long before he convinced Jolene that with her years of experience in sales and marketing, it was a perfect fit for her too. They named their company after their children, TaLana, Tori and Tanner, the fuel of their dedication. In 1997, Greg and Jolene were presented with another opportunity in the form of a pretzel. After winning State Grand Champion at the Iowa Meat Processors Association Convention, the Heikens entered their innovative pretzel shaped jerky into the American Meat Processors Association Convention as a fun and healthy kids snack. The pretzel beef jerky was awarded National Grand Champion. As orders came in from Florida and other states, regrettably, they could not be completed due to the locker s minimal capacity and only having state inspection. The Heikens were determined so they began searching for a way to fulfill the orders and in 1999 they began building a state-of-the-art, federally inspected, processing facility in Ackley, Iowa. Today... Both Triple T facilities stand by the familiar words of Jolene, Diversify or Die, offering a diverse list of products and services, with a mind set that creativity is key. The Heikens accredit much of their success to surrounding themselves with exceptional employees, but when you meet the Heikens and become acquainted with their brainstorming, get-after-it, fun-loving personalities, you will understand what makes Triple T Meats successful, but more importantly special.
