2 How to Find Your Spirit Now that you ve downloaded your passport to fun and delicious drinks, you need the skinny for sipping. How do you complete the Delaware Beer, Wine and Spirits Trail and claim your awesome prize? There are dozens of adventures in craft beverages on the trail. You ll need to visit at least 10 to fully fill out your passport. The staff at each site wants to share their passion with you. So, take a tour, ask a lot of questions and enjoy a tasting of Delaware s best drinks. At each location you go to, you ll want to find the Delaware Beer, Wine and Spirits Trail logo. You ll see a code next to it. Enter the code, location and date on the last page of this passport. You can also use the trail smartphone app to track your progress. The need for mead. Liquid Alchemy (LAB) is Delaware's first meadery. It mixes honey with many locallysourced ingredients to create unique honey wines. From blood oranges to Bing cherries to Thai chili peppers, the different elements of each of LAB s meads makes them the perfect beverage for the experimental palate. Also, its tasting room houses a collection of beverage and Delaware history. Travel Tip: Be sure to reserve your tour date and time on the meadery website before you travel. Featured Beverages: Meeting House Pale Ale, Blonde on Belgian Established: Restaurant: 1978 Brewery: 2012 Some foods were made to pair with a beer, like pizza. And Argilla Brewing is what happens when a couple of home brew do-it-yourselfers love that pairing and own a well-loved pizzeria. This nanobrewery uses a 1.5-barrel system on-site at Pietro s Pizza. So, its brewers are constantly experimenting with new tastes and ideas. A 1940 s downtown movie house is home to Painted Stave Distilling. Delaware s first stand-alone distillery pays homage to that with moviethemed spirits. Its distillers encourage visitors to experience the whiskeys, gins, bourbon and vodkas straight up. But they also love to invent and have people sample new mixes and cocktails. And you can check out a rotating gallery of spectacular, local artwork. Travel Tip: Tours start at the top of the hour and include a cocktail, production tour and guided tasting. Opens summer 2016 Established: 2016 Combine Beer, Wine and Spirits Trail favorite, Mispillion River Brewing, with Culinary Trail gem, Abbott s Grill, and you have Brickworks. Take an industrial feel and join it with a rustic feel, and you ll know what it s like to be inside. Look into the open kitchen as your meal made from locally-grown food is prepared. 6

Straddling the line between Delaware and Maryland, Harvest Ridge has many wines to discover and history to explore (ask about the #47). Its well-crafted wines have won awards at the Tasters Guild International Competition. While you re there, try the winery s new cider Rebel Seed. Delaware s first cidery produces semidry ciders as well as dry, hoptimized ciders, made from fresh, local apples. Try more than 20 different wines made from more than a dozen grape varieties and a number of different fruits. Travel Tip: While you try a blush, you may spot a blushing bride.
