6 Borhat Estate Photos of World Environment day Programme at Borhat Tea Estate WORLDENVIRONMENT DAY MESSAGE BY MR AJOY MISHRA CEO TATA GLOBAL BEVERAGES Dear Colleagues, My sincere greetings to you on the occasion of World Environment Day and Tata Sustainability Month. On 2nd of June 2015, the Group Chairman Mr. CyrusMistry unveiled the Tata Group Sustainability Policy. This policy is based on the philosophy that the Tata group is committed to integrate environmental, social and ethical principles into its business which is central to improving the quality of life of the communities we serve globally, and enhancing long-term stakeholder value. He has conveyed that all Tata companies shall integrate sustainability considerations into business decisions and key processes, follow the highest standards of governance and transparency, embody principles of product stewardship, provide employees and business associates with good working conditions, and strive to be neighbours of choice in the communities in which we operate. In line with the philosophy and principles of the Tata Group Sustainability Policy, I have the pleasure of communicating to you our Natural Beverages Policy. The 6
7 Natural Beverages Policy of Tata Global Beverages is the apex policy that incorporates all relevant elements of Sustainability, Corporate Social Responsibility, Affirmative Action, Community Initiatives and volunteering. It is aligned with the Tata Group Sustainability Policy, and is applicable to all units of Tata Global Beverages, including associate companies and joint ventures. Through this policy, we pledge to aspire for global sustainability leadership in the natural beverages sector. The policy states that, Tata Global Beverages is committed to be the most admired natural beverage company in the world by making a big and lasting difference through Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility. We shall achieve this by being the consumer s first choice in sustainable beverage production and consumption. We respect our consumer s right to choose sustainable products, and make it an important goal of our sustainability policy and strategy. We will continue to focus on the 5 sustainability pillars of - Climate Change, Water Management, Sustainable Sourcing, Waste Management and Community Development. Towards community development, we shall strive to make a difference in the areas of education and skills, healthcare and women empowerment. I encourage you to actively participate in all TATA Group activities and programs for volunteering and affirmative action. To achieve these goals, we have constituted a Governance structure led by Mr. K.S.Srinivasan, Global Chief Human Resources Officer and supported by Dr. AnuragPriyadarshi, Global Sustainability Manager. To further strengthen sustainability governance within TGB, I will call upon the global leaders of Finance, Operations, Buying & Blending, R&D and the Regional Presidents to actively champion and support the sustainability strategy of the company. The CEOs of our associate companies and joint ventures will play a key role in disseminating our sustainability vision. This team will work together to establish sustainability goals, targets and plans to achieve the same. They will also bring out the first Sustainability Report for Tata Global Beverages this year. We have developed a comprehensive sustainability strategy; you would have seen communication on this through an information booklet and the Source. Updates on this will continue to be communicated on a regular basis. We have established some sustainability goals, and others will be established during the coming year. We intend to use 100% sustainably sourced tea for all our brands by We shall achieve this through Rainforest Alliance certification of Tetley and trustea certification of Tata Tea. We are committed to establish targets reducing our carbon intensity and zero waste to landfill in all our beverage units. We will also establish targets and road map to achieve water positive and carbon neutral status in the long term. We will establish a visionary, high-impact Affirmative Action plan to benefit the disadvantaged communities in India. I will also call upon our Sales team to ensure 100% compliance of our distribution network with social, safety, human rights and environment norms. And while we continue to have a high level of gender diversity, I request you to build it into each level, function and geography of the organization. As part of the Tata Sustainability Month, you are invited to participate in the SMART21 challenge. By performing simple daily actions for 21 days, I believe that we could form habits that could lead to sustainability in personal & professional lives. I have taken the challenge to perform a detailed review of the sustainability and CSR performance of all TGB projects, programs, initiatives, functions (e.g. sustainable sourcing, operations, sustainable packaging, welfare centers, hospitals etc.), associate companies & JVs every day for 21 days. I encourage each one of you to participate in the SMART21 challenge and make a difference. 21 Managementand Personal Growth Section How to make use of Your Anxiety for Positive Results(From HBR Magazine ) Research participants who were asked to give an Impromptu three -Minute talk scored higher on persuasiveness and confidence if they first said to themselves I am excited in comparison with those who said I am anxious or explicitly tried to Calm Down, says Alison Wood Brooks of Harvard Business School. Similarly Karaoke singers who first said I am Excited scored an average of 81 % on Pitch, Volume and Rhythm, Compared to those who said I am Anxious (69 % ) or I amcalm (53% ). People who are in a high arousal state tend to believe that calming down will help them Perform, But it can be better to channel the arousal in a positive direction by being energetic and Passionate Brooks Says. The Power Of Accountability There is a Chapter in James Rays Book The Science of Success called the power of accountability in that chapter, James talks about how important it is to take absolute responsibility that is Going On. We should let go of excuses and good stories for not succeeding adopt the 3 R s of accountability:recognition, responsibility, and Realizing. If every single person we met were to take responsibility and accountability for their Lives, Theworld would change from an individual level to a global level. Recognize, first of all that every single thing we have in our life, we have created and attracted.we are Constantly projecting outward and attracting Inward who are into our Life. When we have less than pleasing Result s in our Life, it Doesn t do any Good to get Mad or Upset, Because we Live In a Perfect Universe and This Universe is Consistently Mirroring Back to us where we have opportunities to learn and Grow. If we take Those Mirror Images of Ourselves and Use them as Tools and recognize that we have created Them and taken Responsibility for Them, then we have the realization that we can create something Different. That where our lives truly Begin to Transform and To Change. Number Two, You take Responsibility for What Got Created, and Number Three, Realize that you can Create Something Completely Different. BEST WISHES FOR DIWALI APPLaudConnect 1015
