4 Finding Traditional Foods This directory provides information about food businesses in the Illawarra area between Shellharbour and Thirroul - which sell, or can obtain, traditional Sub-Saharan African foods and/or Halal foods. Some Sydney markets are also included. It is worth asking about traditional foods at other food businesses as many shops stock traditional foods. Some food businesses, including large supermarkets (Aldi, Woolworths and Coles) and other smaller businesses, chose not to be included in this directory, even though they may stock traditional foods. If a shop does not sell what you want, please ask. They may order it for you. Traditional foods can also be found on the Internet. Some of these businesses offer delivery directly to homes. 6 How to use the Traditional Food Directory Food businesses in this Directory have the following definitions: Supermarket Sell a large variety of food items. Larger supermarkets sell fresh produce such as fruit and vegetables, meat, chicken, fish and delicatessen items. Smaller supermarkets have fewer food items available and may not have fresh produce available. Green Grocer Sell fruit and vegetables. May sell drinks, pasta, nuts, legumes. Butcher Sell fresh meat. May sell cured meats. Market Sell fresh produce fruit and vegetables, delicatessen items and specialty foods. Delicatessen Sell smallgoods cured meats, cheeses and other specialty foods.
