2 What Boyer's Has To Offer... Nursery Fruit Stand Pick your Own Bareroot Trees Hedge Maze Orchard Wine Tasting Boyer Nurseries is a five generation family business that has been associated with the fruit industry since 1900, when our founder, W.W. Boyer began to propagate and sell bareroot fruit trees to local customers. Nestled in the heart of orchard country against the backdrop of scenic South Mountain - we maintain 500 acres of fruit orchards, a nursery, garden center, farm market, u-pick operation, and a more recent expansion into landscape design and installation. Our family keeps an eye on ecology by utilizing approved conservation practices; not only in preserving the soil and environment, but in limiting sprawl. We re located only 8 miles from historic Gettysburg, PA and welcome your visit! and Much More

3 BAREROOT William Boyer Lower Sr. in 1980, packing trees for shipping. CATALOG Spring 2018 What is Bareroot? Bareroot trees and shrubs are ones which have been harvested when dormant and sold without soil around the roots. There are many advantages to buying bareroot products, some of which are: price, diversity of material, ease of transporting and planting. David Boyer Lower arranging trees in the tree cellar. The same guarantee applies as with container or balled plants. Another major benefit of buying bareroot is that we can ship bareroot trees anywhere in the USA. Please keep in mind the bareroot stock has a limited season from March through May. William Boyer Lower Jr. harvesting trees in autumn. Blueberries require at least two varieties for pollination. Nut trees require two trees of the same variety to set up a good crop. Japanese plums (J) require Japanese varieties to pollinate. European plums (E) require European varieties to pollinate. DEER PROBLEMS? Milorganite is a useful tool in repelling deer from grazing on fruit trees and ornamental plantings. The odor of Milorganite (an organic nitrogen fertilizer) keeps deer away. Hang a small bag in each tree, or spread around plantings to deter deer. We sell pre-filled cloth bags for $0.80 each (hang one bag/tree). Or, you may buy in bulk. 36 lb. bags of Milorganite cost $15.00 each. 15
