1 Bristol Plants and Seeds Heritage Tomato Order Form/Catalogue July seeds per packet. $3.00 per packet. Free Postage. Key: I = Indeterminate. Plants are vines that grow throughout the season until killed by frost. Fruit set is continuous. Staking is essential as plants can reach six to ten feet high and will become very heavy with fruit. Most tomato varieties are indeterminate. Pinching out laterals can help manage the growth of the plant and make is easier for sunlight to enter and fruit to ripen. D = Determinate. Plants grow to a fixed mature size. Generally they are smaller than indeterminate types. Heights can range from approx. two to five feet. Once the height is reached the plant will set all its fruit within a few weeks. Plant staking/caging is still recommended. Removing laterals and suckers is not recommended but may be useful to open up the plant, allowing light to enter. SD = Semi determinate. Plants have a fixed height but have a longer fruiting period.
