WHITE SPANISH WINE: Mas Doix Les Crestes 2012 RP 94 $210/btl Les Crestes vineyards are situated at a height of 400 meters above sea level on hilsides of pronounced slopes. A third of the grapes comes from vineyards of more than 50 years old, and the rest comes from vineyards with an average of 15/20 years old is one of the best vintages in last 10 years. Aging of 10 months in French oak. Grape Varieties: 80% Grenache, 10% Carignan, 10% Syrah Robert Parker 94 points: A stunningly profound Priorat. The blend includes significant amounts of old vines material. The wine s deep purple color is accompanied by sweet aromas of black raspberries, spring flowers and crushed rocks, elegant, medium to fullbodied flavors and a long, zesty, rich finish. The oak is pushed to the background, and the wine s freshness and exuberance are well-displayed. Poboleda is one of the two coldest micro-climates of Priorat, so this is clearly a more feminine-styled wine. Drink it over the next 4-6 years. To qualify, red wines must be aged for a minimum of 36 months, to include at least twelve months in small oak barrels and the rest in bottle. To qualify, red wines must be aged for a minimum of 60 months, to include at least eighteen months in small oak barrels and the rest in bottle.

Final blend were chosen from the best barrels and then kept in the bottle for 24 additional months. Robert Parker 90 pts: Spice box, pepper, violets, mineral, black cherry, and plum aromas are followed by a ripe, plush, pleasure-bent red that has enough structure to evolve for 1-2 years. Drink this outstanding value over the next 6-7 years. Monasterio de las Viñas Gran Reserva 2005 RP 91 $138/btl Grape Varieties: 60% Garnacha, 30% Tempranillo, 10% Cariñena from 40 to 50 years old bush vines Winemaking: Tempranillo and Carinena were aged for 24 months in French oak barrels while the Garnacha aged for 24 months in American oak barrels. Final blend were chosen from the best barrels and then kept in the bottle for 36 additional months. Robert Parker 91 pts: A glass-coating opaque purple color, it has greater density and grip than the Reserva cuvee as well as layers of ripe, sweet fruit. Give this nicely balanced wine another 1-2 years of cellaring and drink it from 2013 to 2017.

Retail: $490/btl Special: $380/btl Neo Punta Esencia 2004 RP 98 $640/btl Unfilted Wine, only bottled made per year Grape Varieties: 100% Tempranillo from 80 years old vines Robert Parker 98 points: The 2004 Neo Punta Esencia is made only in the very best vintages. The wine receives 200% new oak treatment (12 months in new oak with racking into another set of new oak for an additional 4 months) and is bottled unfiltered. The wine is nearly black in color and has already soaked up much of the new oak. The nose is super expressive and complex with pain grille, black currant, blackberry liqueur, and blueberry jam holding sway. Densely packed and stacked, with layer upon layer of ripe fruit, its tannins virtually concealed, this full-bodied, beautifully balanced wine is a near monument and purchasers should give it the necessary time (10+ years) to Strut its stuff.

It was fermented in new French barriques, aged for 12 months, and bottled unfined and unfiltered. The result is a spectacular wine with a remarkably express nose of pain grille, lead pencil, spice box, espresso, black currants, and wild blueberries that roars from the glass. The opulent palate is mouth-coated, thick and full flavored with the structure well-concealed by the masses of fruit. This legend in the making, while irresistible now, should evolve slowly over 2-3 decades much like a first growth Bordeaux and still be drinking at age 50.
