WINERIES - Skåne, the new wine district KÖPINGSBERG Köpingsbergs vingård Skåne is a relatively young wine region and the first vines were cultivated only 10-15 years ago.

With its favourable climate for vines, the north west of Skåne, along the coastline of Kullahalvön has become a popular spot to several new wineries.

2 WINERIES - Skåne, the new wine district KÖPINGSBERG Köpingsbergs vingård Skåne is a relatively young wine region and the first vines were cultivated only years ago. Thanks to its mild climate and its extended growing season it is predicted to become one of the more interesting wine regions in the future and today there are more than twenty vineyards in the area. With its favourable climate for vines, the north west of Skåne, along the coastline of Kullahalvön has become a popular spot to several new wineries. ARILDS VINGÅRD In the beautiful surroundings of Kullaberg you will find Arilds Vingård, which is one of the oldest farms in the area with buildings from the 18th century designed as the ancient Roman times. During the summer season it s possible to visit their charming restaurant where their own wine can be enjoyed with tasty food and if you don t want to leave it at that you can even spend the night. They arrange activities all year round whereof a harvest festival in the fall is one of them. VILLA MATHILDA, ARILD Villa Mathilda is a small vineyard also situated in lovely Arild. Their first vines were planted in early 2006 which makes them one of the oldest vineyards in the region and today they have about 1000 plants all together. During the summer Villa Mathilda opens up it s doors to curious visitors who want to know more about wine making and you will also find their wine in several first class restaurants in the area. KULLAHALVÖNS VINGÅRD Kullahalvöns vingård is situated south west of Arild and the production includes both white and rosé wines. The wines are organic, and within two years the goal is to produce ecological wines. In 2010 The Freiburg University appointed their Solaris wine the best of the year. KÖPINGSBERGS VINGÅRD With views over both sea and hills you will find this winery and producer of sparkling wine, Köpingsbergs vingård. Besides a winery they also run a small shop where you can buy their homemade vinegar and marmalades or book an afternoon of wine tasting with friends. They grow everything from Chardonnay to lesser-known varieties. SKILLINGE VINGÅRD On the light sandy soils just south of Skillinge lies Skillinge vingård. With the sea only a few hundred meters south of the vineyard it contributes to a mild micro climate ideal for wineries. They offer wine tastings and exciting tours to get a glimpse of a vivid vineyard. If you want to learn more, the winery also holds courses in the art of cultivating wine in our Swedish climate. ÅHUS VINGÅRD Åhus vingård is beautifully situated next to Helge River, just outside Åhus. The cultivation which spreads over one hectare currently consists of 3000 vines of blue and green grapes. In 2010 they were rewarded with the award The Best Swedish wine for its white wine. They also arrange walking- and bicycle tours and different courses in how to become a better connoisseur where you learn how to taste and smell wine. HÄLLÅKRA VINGÅRD If you travel down south to the lovely area of Söderslätt you will find Hällåkra vingård situated in the northern parts of Trelleborgs countryside. A vineyard with currently 10,000 vines with grapes Rondo, Pinot Noir, Sauvignon Blanc and more. Hällåkra vingård produces both red, white and sweet dessert wines. The vineyard has its very own wine cafe where they serve their own wine along with selected homemade specialties, cooked from local delicacies. 4 BREWERIES AND DISTILLERIES - something for everyone! If you feel that grapes and wine isn t your thing there are more than ten active breweries in the area and one of the world s most famous hard liquor producer is located in the very east part of Skåne. MALMÖ BRYGGERI Malmö Brewery is situated at the old Richters brewery in central Malmö. Well-hopped pilsner is brewed with a pleasant malted sweetness and a powerful head. The brewery opened in 2010 and today serves a variety of different ales, pilsner and porters on tap. Every month, a monthly special beer is presented from a guest brewers or a special recipe with the beer enthusiasts in mind. LUNDABRYGGERIET North east to Malmö you will find Lund known for being one of Europe s oldest universities. The city is also known for Lundabryggeriet, a microbrewery that produce beer using classic artisan techniques. The finest malt and hops are selected to produce excellent wort, which is then converted under the optimum conditions with fine yeast into a flavourful beer. If you want to learn more about their work or about beer in general it s possible to book beer tasting classes. STOCKEBODA BRYGGERI Stockeboda traces its roots back to the time when Skåne was part of Denmark, and the farm was originally built as a hunting seat in one of the most beautiful locations in Österlen. Here, the streams bubble their way through deciduous forests and undulating fields and in 2008, the owners were the first to start up a farm brewery in Sweden. Each year on location, a popular beer festival is arranged. YSTAD BRYGGERI Near the market place in Ystad you will find Ystad brewery in an old half-timbered house from the 18th century. There is also a restaurant in the building where the brewery s own beer is served. Today s 4

SPIRIT OF HVEN On the island of Ven located in the strait of Öresund between Denmark and Sweden lies Spirit of Hven a distillery as well as a four star conference and hotel resort with restaurant and

5 brewery was built from scratch to a Maltria, who supported local breweries with the important malting barley. The brewery is open all year round and the premises makes it possible to book for smaller groups and conference. ABSOLUT VODKA Åhus, on the east coast of Skåne, is home to vodka producer Absolut. The company was founded in 1979, and has become one of Sweden s best known brands. Absolut is the world s third biggest spirit brand, after Bacardi and Smirnoff, and is only distilled here in Skåne at Åhus. Absolut s soft grain character comes from Skåne s undulating fields of winter wheat, which has proven to be absolutely ideal for making quality vodka. Here you can take a tour of the Absolut distillery or watch a unique show about this Swedish success story. But of course they taste better here on location in Skåne. Swedish apple juice is a non-alcoholic beverage as opposed to cider elsewhere in Europe and it works perfectly with food. The conditions for growing fruit are ideal here with just enough humidity thanks to the landscape surrounded by sea on three sides. To visit at least one apple house is a must! KULLABYGDENS MUSTERI Kullabygdens musteri is a small family-owned production situated on the Kullaberg peninsula in the south west of Skåne. Where they have been producing clear applejuice since 1929, Kullamust. Local apple producers and individuals have for generations delivered their freshly handpicked apples, which are selected and cold-pressed into pure clear apple juice containing its unique flavor and fragrance and then put into bottles. The result is a drink with fresh flavor, clear amber look, without any additives. The shop is open during the summer season and there is also a small café area. SÖVDE MUSTERI For more than 50 years they have been making apple juice in Sövde Musteri located in the south. In the farm shop you will find products made from highquality ingredients. Apple juice, cider and mulled wine but also honey, jam and spices. KIVIKS MUSTERI Kiviks Musteri is located on the scenic Österlen, where they have been in business since the late 19th century. On Kiviks Musteri they manufacture a variety of fruit- and berry juices, cider, soups and marmalades. They are located in the southern part of Kivik where you can visit their farm shop, cafe, restaurant and House of Apples with beautiful flowering gardens. Outside Lund is Gloria s beautiful apple farm, they produce apple juice, marmalades and apple cider vinegar. Everything is avalable to purchase and taste in the farm shop.

All fruit is picked by hand and taken care of sorting and packaging before it is distributed. During the season, they produce apple juice from fresh apples from their own gardens and also fruit thats has been handed in by guests. The juice is handcrafted and without additives. The farm shop is considered to be the heart of the business and sells fruit, juice and jellies which vary according to season. Outside Lund is Gloria s beautiful apple farm, they produce apple juice, marmalades and apple cider vinegar. Everything is avalable to purchase and taste in the farm shop. They also have a garden café that serves cakes and pies made with their own fruit. The cafe is open during guided tours and the harvest season or if booked in advance.
