3 Accommodation Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri (hotel) is situated next to a small harbour in the idyllic village of Bekkjarvik, just a short distance by boat from Bergen Airport, Flesland. Bekkjarvik Guesthouse has a rich history and lies south of Bergen. Bekkjarvik Guest House was built in the late 1600s and has been renting for over three hundred years. From ancient times, catch and fishing have been the basis of life for the people of Austevoll. In Bekkjarvik they salted the herring, exported lobsters, made thousands of barrels and hangings for fishing nets. Here they had seaside houses, bakeries and breweries. The world s best cook is Norwegian and runs the restaurant at Bekkjarvik Guesthouse. Ørjan Johannessen won the gold medal in Bocuse d`or 2015, and in 2014, his twin brother Arnt received the award for Kitchen Manager of the Year in Norway. Johannessen runs the restaurant at Bekkjarvik Guest House, which was rated as the eighth best restaurant in Norway by the Swedish food guide White Guide. Today most people visit Bekkjarvik Gjestgiveri for its fantastic food, combined with spectacular views, and some of the best chefs in Norway. Bekkjarvik is an old trading station packed with coastal culture and with a fisheries museum at Bekkjarvik Torg. 5 Activities RIB-boat to fish farming facilities incl. eagle safari. Guides will take you out by RIB-boat on an eagle safari in the archipelago. Besides looking for eagles, you will explore Engesund Fish farming which opened a viewing center in Here you get to see how salmon farming works. This is a family owned and operated business whose quality is in the lead. They sell about 3000 tonnes of salmon to exporters and slaughterhouses every year.
