6 FREIXO PALACE, 5* Location: city center The Pousada do Porto, Freixo Palace Hotel, opened in October 2009 and is the first Portuguese Pousada in the Oporto city. The adaptation of the Pousada do Porto, inserted into a palace which has been classified as anational Monument since 1910, was by architect David Sinclair and decorated by architect James Mitchell. The building is located on the banks of the Douro River, named after the famous Wine Region in Portugal, which dates back to Roman times. It is a beautifulexample of Portuguesecivil baroque. Characterised by its sumptuous 18th century construction, the work originally was authorised by the celebrated Italian architect Nicolau Nasoni. Nicolau Nasoni was one of the most significant architects of Oporto city with an important contribution to the historic heritage where attention is also given to the Tower of the Clergy,ex-libris of the city.at the time of construction the Tower of the Clergy was considered to be the highest buildingin Portugal standing at 75 metres. 19 Pacheca Wine Estate Location: Lamego Maximum Capacity: 200 people Quinta da Pacheca is part of a property covering 36 hectares, located on the south bank of the Douro River, near Régua. It is one of the best known wine estates in the Douro region and was also one of the first producers to bottle wine under its own label. Today, a century and many successes later, a brand-new generation of the Serpa Pimentel family is at the head of Quinta da Pacheca: Maria, Catarina and José are the young new faces of this old family company. Upon arrival our guests will be met by a member of the family, who will guide guests around the estate. 23 Gala Dinner - Suggestion 2 Feitoria Inglesa Location: Porto city centre Maximum Capacity: 120 people The English Factory is a unique building located in the historic center of Porto. It is an excellent testimony to the Portuguese-British alliance and the weight of the British community in the city, largely engaged in trade of the Port. Built between 1785 and 1790, according to a draft of the English consul John Whitehead, the English Factory is inspired by the Palladian style, being the only Factory House that survived to the present, only several of which existed in the world. There is a beautiful staircase and ballroom, as well as the monumental kitchen, located on the top floor, which still retains all the original equipment. The English Factory also has a large library and a remarkable collection of Chippendale furniture, porcelain and earthenware. A venue with British roots
