2 Pessac-Léognan HISTORY OF THE CHÂTEAU Since the beginning of the 18th Century, this domain has been producing wine. Formerly named Hantot, the chateau finds its origins in the re-grouping of lands before the revolution of Paul Alexander Desclaux de la Coste was the first proprietor. The Chateau was rebuilt in 1870 exactly the way it stands today. It was at the turn of the 1930 s where Robert Luc, the grandfather of the current owner, acquired the domain and its vineyards. RETURNING TO ROOTS In 2006, Xavier Beaumartin, took over at the helm of the property. After a career in the industrial sector and his parallel involvement in the renewal of Chateau Laroque in Saint Emilion, Xavier Beaumartin decided to give a new perspective to the wines of the family estate, set in the vineyards of Pessac-Léognan.

The four little hectares, that will most definitely remain four, uncover an incomparable treasure: Parcels with very different compositions.

3 Pessac-Léognan A RARE AND GENEROUS TERROIR The idea was simple: express, with the utmost sincerity, the potential of this lovely terroir. The vinifications and barrel ageing are undertaken with subtlety and tact, with full respect of the traditional methods. The four little hectares, that will most definitely remain four, uncover an incomparable treasure: Parcels with very different compositions. One is clay, the other is limestone, and the last is gravel. The grape varieties find the exact soil at their roots. There are three of them, the Merlot, the Cabernet Franc and the Cabernet Sauvignon. The grape-growing methods were completely revisited:. Parcel drainage. Grapes varieties and root stock adapted to the nature of each soil. Highly trained vines to amplify the leaf canopy. Soil work destined to develop a root system. Manual pruning and green harvesting respecting each plant stock. Reasoned spraying methods with depending upon risk of pest In the same spirit of quality, today we have rebuilt a fully modern winery

4 Pessac-Léognan THE EXPERIENCE OF A GREAT WINEMAKER The Oenologist SERGE CHARRITTE who has vinified 30 vintages in the Pessac-Léognan appellation, joined the team at our domain : «The Hannetot project is an interesting one, since here I am again in my preferred land, the Pessac-Léognan appellation. This domain is small and manageable that POSSESSES A GREAT POTENTIAL. It is inspiring. The investments are substantial and the first wine, the result of our new vision of the vineyard, promises pleasure and quality. In the winery, this spirit is pervasive. The extractions are soft and the barrel ageing has only a slight woodiness. Reasonable and reasoned, that is the essence of Hannetot. At each stage of the winemaking, the purity that nature imparts on the grape is preserved.

The ageing took place partly in barrels and partly in vats.

7 2011 Vintage GENERAL VINTAGE CONDITIONS The exceptionally hot and dry spring provoked a particularly early budding-out of the vine. The flowering began from the second week of May. The water stress linked to the absence of precipitation engendered little flower abortion; and happily a few showers during the month of July allowed the young grapes to continue their development in satisfactory conditions. The veraison took place rapidly. The very sunny weather conditions accompanied our vineyard up until the harvest time which started on the 10th of September for the Merlots. The entirety of these factors made the 2011 vintage one of the most early-ripening of the last ten years. TASTING NOTES There is an intense hue. The bouquet is refined and is accompanied by a lovely aromatic expression. The attack is frank and supple; the tannins are well rounded and are only slightly marked by the wood. The finish is fruity and well-balanced. In 2011 we find a definitive classic constitution of Château Hannetot where the alcohol content remains below 13.5%. That being said, the tannic structure and the lovely level of acidity are guarantees of an easily accessible wine together with a good capacity to age. The 2011 Château HANNETOT can be consumed immediately but its optimal aromatic and tasting expression should show up from The ageing potential of this wine is 10 to 12 years. 56% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc

8 2012 Vintage GENERAL VINTAGE CONDITIONS As opposed to the previous vintage, 2012 is characterized by abundant precipitation from April until June and accompanied by rather chilly temperatures. The flowering was unequal and very late. Our stringent pruning in the vineyard allowed us to control the mildew and oïdium threat that were all pervasive during the spring. From June on, the sun finally shined and we had dry weather throughout the summer. On the eve of the harvest, the health of the grapes permitted us to bring the late-harvesting Cabernets right up to their perfect maturity. TASTING NOTES The 2012 vintage came a long way! It is definitely considered as a Winemakers vintage in the Bordeaux region. Due to the great care taken in the vineyard, Chateau Hannetot was in a position to magnificently express the quality of its terroirs. 56% Merlot, 26% Cabernet Sauvignon, 18% Cabernet Franc

13 2014 Vintage - RATES Score: 15,5 CHÂTEAU HANNETOT Pessac-Léognan 2014 This vineyard was entirely pulled up in 2000, rested for seven years and replanted in Today it stands at just 4ha, run by the Beaumartin family of Château Laroque in St-Emilion, and is located close to Château Olivier in Léognan. The blend here is 56% Merlot, 28% Cabernet Sauvignon and the rest Cabernet Franc. The soft tannic structure of the young wines is clear, and the soft plum fruits are very attractive, but both alcohol and acidity are fairly high. Young vines are likely to have struggled a little with the 2014 growing season, this is one to watch for future years. Score: 90 CHÂTEAU HANNETOT Pessac-Léognan 2014 A red that shows composure and finesse with plum and mineral character. Hints of bark. Medium body and a linear finish. Drink now.

15 2015 Vintage - RATES Score: 91 CHÂTEAU HANNETOT Pessac-Léognan 2015 This wine is packed with black currant flavors. The layers of tannins are well integrated with the bright acidity and spicy finish. Score: CHÂTEAU HANNETOT Pessac-Léognan 2015 A fine and tender red with blueberry and plum aromas and flavors. Hints of licorice. Silky tannins. A tiny production red from four hectares. A blend of mostly merlot with cabernet sauvignon and cabernet franc. Same owners as St. Emilion s Laroque. Score: 91 CHÂTEAU HANNETOT Pessac-Léognan 2015 Beautifully structured lesser-known wine. Relaxed fresh redcurrant fruit and a floral touch and mouthwatering salinity on the finish. Subtle, easy, elegant, medium term drinking. Xavier Beaumartin of Ch Laroque in St Emilion bought this estate in 2006 and he reworking the vineyard. Oenologist Serge Charritte is the winemaker.
