Its aroma is distinct, yet delicate, difficult to characterize and easier to recognize stuffed full of apples, lemons, peaches or tropical fruits. 5 Other White Wine Varieties Currently there are more than 3500 different grape varieties in over 60 wine producing countries. Many of these are domestic grapes that we can only find in those particular areas. In our selection below we offer a few samples of mainly native produced wines. Gustave Lorentz (Gewurztraminer) Aromas of roses, tropical fruits and exotic spices. A rich and full mouth-feel and a long, pleasant finish with some lively acidic. Lemon curd, white peach and tangerine notes in this tangy white which shows a hint of grapefruit on the finish. There's a nice interplay of sweet and tart. 6 Sauvignon Blanc The varietal identity of Sauvignon Blanc is typically similar to grass, bell-pepper or grapefruit in nature. New Zealanders liken it to "gooseberry" and most commonly considered fruity. Also known as Fume Blanc or Pouilly Fume. 7 Pinot Gris Pinot Gris or Pinot Grigio is usually delicately fragrant and mildly floral with lightly lemon-citrus flavors. Pinot Gris can be tangy and quite rich with a finish that is round and full bodied. The best examples for Pinot Gris come from Italy and Alsace. 8 Red Wines Cabernet Sauvignon It s distinctive black-currant aroma can develop bouquet nuances of cedar, violets, leather or cigar box and its typically tannic edge may soften and smooth considerably allowing a degree of bell pepper or weedines to develop over time. 9 Pinot Noir The aroma can often be intense with a ripe-grape or black cherry aroma, frequently accented by a pronounced spiciness that suggests cinnamon, sassafras or mint. Ripe tomato, mushroom and a fabled barnyard touch are also common descriptors for identifying Pinot Noir. It is full-bodied and rich but not heavy, high in alcohol, yet neither acidic nor tannic, with substantial flavor despite its delicacy. Medium weight red fruit richness and finegrained tannins are drawn out long across the palate by acidity to create a finish which is savoury and dry. Joseph Drouhin Laforet Bourgogne Rouge Burgundy, France 1,700,000VND This Pinot Noir is an excellent red Burgundy; light ruby color with soft aromas and flavours of rose petal, raspberry and all spice. Allan Scott Marlbourough, New Zealand 1,400,000VND Subtle smoky oak characters and bright berry fruit flavours on the palate. A nice velvety finish makes this a delightfully harmonious Pinot Noir. Merlot Merlot has slightly lower natural acidity than Cabernet and generally less astringent, therefore usually a lusher mouth-feel. Merlot is by far the most widely planted grape of the entire Bordeaux region and third- behind Carignan and Grenache as the most planted red grape variety in France. Ripe tannins mixed with vanilla notes in the nose. The palate shows mature plum and raspberry notes. A very complex wine. Deakin Estate Red Cliffs Victoria, Australia 1,000,000VND Coffee and wet forest floor aromas with blackcurrant and cinnamon. These are wild and complex aromas and a precise description is elusive. Chapoutier Belleruche Côtes-du-Rhône, France 1,200,000VND (Grenache Shiraz) Red fruit aromas boasting loads of Morello cherries in this well structured and complex red. A nice spicy finish for a typical Côtes du Rhône and needless to say an extremely versatile red. Yalumba Y Series (Shiraz - Viognier) Barossa Valley, Australia 1,100,000VND Big in the mouth it quickly gives way to dried apricot and black cherry followed by a spicy floral combination likened to potpourri. White flowers and honeysuckle with hints of apricot nectar. Malbec Malbec grapes originated in France and play a big role in the wine production of Argentina. The flavors and aromas of wines made from Malbec grapes include blackberry, cherry, plums, and chocolate. Other characteristics of Malbec wines include inky-black coloring, soft or high tannins, and high acidity. 12 Rosé Rosé is a type of wine that is neither purely red wine nor purely white wine. It is made from red-skinned grapes with the skins removed from contact with the pressed juice after a short period, rather than left in contact throughout fermentation as with red wine making. As the skins contain much of the strongly flavored tannin and other compounds, this leaves the wine tasting more similar to a white wine.
