3 Lopez de Heredia Winery Avda Vizcaya Haro This is a jewel-like pavilion sheltered by a canopy for a wine shop and tasting room It was first built as a stand at a food fair in Barcelona and afterwards relocated to the bodegas at Haro in Rioja (Basque country) This winery makes remarkable, unusually old-fashioned wines The pavilion, like a series of nested Russian dolls, in turn shelters the winery s elaborately carved mahogany and oak display stand that was made for the 1910 Brussels Worlds Fair This family-run business, now in its 4th generation, sticks to the winemaking methods for fermentation and aging established by Rafael López de Heredia, who founded it in 1877 No stainless-steel vats or computer-run temperature controls can be found here The pavilion is a surprising addition to the winery s already iconoclastic campus See their website for a virtual tour over the premises Floor area/size m² Zaha Hadid s R Lopez de Heredia Vina Tondonia, SA hansbrinker Call or to make an appointment to visit the winery: +39 (0) or bodega[at]lopezdeherediacom 3

5 Bodegas Ysios Camino de la Hoya Laguardia The Ysios bodega in La Rioja Alavesa, the stunning winemaking facility nestles in the foothills of the Sierra de Cantabria mountain range the peaks mirrored in the undulations of the bodega Named after the Egyptian goddess of magic, who oversaw the conversion of grapes into wine; this producer has blessed consumers with an excellently balanced Reserva wine The building is conceived as an element that is integrated into the powerful surrounding landscape, while being somewhat autonomous at the same time, as a site-specific sculpture The site is uneven, with pronounced grade changes of as much as 10 meters from the highest levels in the north, to the lowest in the south About half of the site is occupied by vineyards Calatrava adopted the strategy of giving a volumetric treatment to the roof and walls - physical limits of the landscape outside and the winery within - so that continuity between the two spaces is achieved through the "static movement" of the enclosures Floor area/size m² Santiago Calatrava Bodega & Bebidas Group hansbrinker Organized tours are Monday to Friday: 11, 13 and 16:oo hr Saturday and Sunday: 11 and 13 hr It is necessary to make a reservation, before visiting Tel: , , info@domecqbodegascom The winery is located near the A124, between Haro (on the west) and Logrono (on the east) Just small kilometer north of Laguardia When leaving Laguardia, go north You will pass La Hoya, San Pedro and when arriving at the Cruce La Hoya (crossing) go left, towards Cruce Bodega There you'll see the Bodegas Ysios on your left 5

6 photo: Adriana Landaluce photo: Adriana Landaluce Bodegas Antion Ctra Villabuena Elciego The design is based on two principles Firstly, the protection and care of the natural environment: moulding the plot of land and to insert the voluminous bodega buildings in such a way that they naturally blend into the site, as if they had always been part of the landscape Secondly, to make the sales and administration side an advertising landmark and a recognisable brand image In line with these two principles, the project contemplates rooting the bodega in the earth as if it were a grapevine Underground, deep down, the production is fed whilst; in the open air, its leaves, bathed by the sunlight, allow us to recognise it, by offering us its clean and desirable fruit In parallel to the bodega s operational circuit, the project contemplates a route to enable visitors to enjoy panoramic views of each unique area of the bodega, without interfering in the wine making process This is a key feature in state-of-the-art bodegas and considerably conditions their design photo: Adriana Landaluce Structural engineer J Marino Pascual y Asociados Acciona Infraestructuras Proconsol Bodega Antion MI_MOA 6
