1 Weekly Word From St. Patrick School NOVEMBER 12, 2010 WEEKLY MESSAGE This week I had a meeting for Religious Education leaders. During our meeting, we have two people share their faith stories. Usually the template for each story is the same. The people usually come from a strong Catholic family. They then get involved with the church and have some minor problems along the way. One of this week s stories was different. This time around, the template changed. This week, the story had someone starting out in a nondenominational church, then to a Methodist Church, then Lutheran, and now Catholic. The most emotional part of the story was the fact that she went through a lot of emotional trauma. She had a mentally ill mother, abusive husband, and as a child had a mother who married and divorced six times. The reason why I am sharing this is one of growth in faith. She had ample opportunities to lose faith. She finally found forgiveness, hope, and comfort through the Eucharist and love in God. It was something that will stick with me forever. SAVE THIS DATE Even though we have a few months before the event, I wanted to get this date out to you. The date for the Spring Gala is April 16. When that time gets closer, more information will come. READING NIGHT Don t forget that next Thursday is our reading night. This is a good opportunity to learn reading strategies to help your children at home. This night is for the entire public. I included a flyer in this packet so you can pass the information on to people you know who do not have children enrolled in our school. SCRIP In this packet, I included an order form for SCRIP. SCRIP is a good way to help our school. They work like gift cards, and you can use them for shopping that you already do. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM This year s Christmas program will be Thursday, December 16 at 7:00. November 15 UPCOMING EVENTS School Board Meeting 6:45 November 18 Tech Meeting 5:00 November 18 Reading Night 6:30 November 19 November 23 Thanksgiving Mass 10:30 First Reconciliation 6:30
