1 October This week is National Taco Week! LUNCHROOM News October 2017 through May 2018 Lunch Calendars are attached. October through December are available for ordering now on the website. You may order lunch October 9 through December 20. January - May 2018 will be live on the website and available for ordering beginning Friday of this week (September 29). In an effort to make it easier to figure out the ordering deadlines we have attached a schedule with weekly lunch dates and the cutoff date to order each of the weeks. Please note around school vacation weeks that some deadlines do not follow our A La Carte typical pattern as we will need to order food further in advance. To order an a La Carte fund only (with no lunch orders), you must first click on Place Order and then select the box for a La Carte Dollars, minimum $3. Then go to check out and you may add your desired amount for your a La Carte fund. We have also attached a letter explaining our new made to order a La Carte items and how to order them. Kerry Moylan Food Service Director I began working in the cafeteria last year and I am excited to continue this year in the role of Food Service Director. My husband John and I have two children that attend St. Paul, Brennan in second grade and Ellie in sixth grade as well as a St. Paul graduate, Maddy, who attends MSU. We also have a new puppy, a goldendoodle named Husdon. I love seeing the children everyday and it really matters to us that we serve food that they like and that they enjoy their lunch period. Did you know? Crocodiles are color-blind. In the U.S. state of Alabama, there is a shop that sells everything people leave or lose at local airports. Imagine that two thirds of people in the world have never seen snow. A: Becuase it Concentrates

3 LUNCHROOM News A LA CARTE DAY OF PURCHASES Dear School Families, We wanted to give a little more detail on the a la carte items that we are adding to the offerings in the cafeteria. We have begun to make items to order that can be purchased each day in the cafeteria without pre-ordering online. For the week of October 2 we are offering: Item Price Chicken Nuggets and French Fries $3.00 Sloppy Joe and French Fries $3.00 Chicken Noodle Soup $1.50 Broccoli Cheddar Soup $1.50 Cream of Tomato Soup $1.50 Garlic Bread $0.75 Fresh Orange Slices $0.75 Fresh Grapes $0.75 These items are made to order each day. We have asked the teachers to take a tally every morning in homeroom to calculate how many students in each lunch period are planning to purchase one or more of these items. We collect these tally sheets and prepare the amount of food accordingly so that it is fresh for each lunch period. We need to know the tallies by 9:30 AM the day of. If we do not have an order for one or more of the items on any of the tally sheets we will not prepare it for that day. We will however make each item even if only one person orders it. We will not have excess though as taking a count in the morning is intended to keep us from preparing food that will not be eaten/purchased. If you and your child(ren) decide the night before or morning of that they wish to have one or more of these items, please make sure they are letting their teacher know when the tallies are taken. For grades Preschool through Second you may also kmoylan@stpaulonthelake.org or your child(ren) s teacher with the information. These items may be paid for with your online a la carte fund or with cash at the time of purchase. We will put our a la carte items in the newsletter each week. We will be expanding the options throughout the school year. Please be aware that the Salad Bar is available for purchase everyday. You do NOT need to pre-order nor give your order in the morning when the homeroom teachers take a tally. All snack items (e.g., chips, fruit snacks) are also available for purchase everyday without any type of preordering. We hope this helps! -The Cafeteria Staff
