3 The World of Parker Head Winemaker W The Parker family celebrated with a St. Patrick s themed party as Marcy turned 87 on March 18th. Raising a Garden B ees get busy in the spring and apparently so do we! The projects we outlined in the winter newsletter are well underway. New landscaping for the garden area at the Wine Country Inn arrived the week of March 9th, the veranda patio at the winery has been poured, and work begins on the outdoor fireplace in the next week or so. The raised planter beds are finished and Chef Barrett is busy selecting herbs, heirloom tomatoes and lettuces to plant, all of which will serve to make his culinary offerings that much more delicious! Beautiful new sod was installed the third week of March so we are tacking well and should have everything wrapped up in time for Release Day. We hope that you will enjoy this beautiful new space as much as we will. ow have we been busy! This year really started out with a bang. We have been running out of wine faster than ever and bottling earlier to try and keep up with the demand. We are very thankful to all of our loyal consumers who enjoy our wine and keep us busy. So far this year we have bottled our 2014 Sant a Barbara Riesling, 2014 Santa Barbara Chardonnay, 2012 Crockett, all of our Blair Fox 2013 reserve Pinot Noirs and a new white Rhone Blend called Marcella s. It is a very refreshing blend of Viognier, Roussanne, Marsanne and Grenache Blanc. It also has a pretty new label of the Santa Barb ara waterfront by Chris Potter. The 2014 was a great vintage for white wines with beautiful aromatics, bright refreshing acidity and wonderful texture. These wines are sure to please. In the vineyard we are witnessing anot her early bud-break with another dry winter and dry early sprin g. In fact, the 2014 winter was the driest winter on record in the state of California and this winter was even drier! We are really hoping to have some late spring rains to help fill our reservoir and water our vines with their tender new growth. I am putting my barrel orders in early this year with an eye towards another early vintage. If it does come early, we will be ready! I hope you enjoy the wines and from the whole team here at Fess Parker Winery. Cheers! Blair Fox, Head Winemaker The Bubble Shack T he opening of the Bubble Shack went very well and sales have been brisk! So brisk in fact that we realized we would need to limit our days of operation (Sat & Sun only) and impose a sales limit of two bottles per wine for the time being. Our goal is to stretch our inventory through the fall of 2015 when the next release is due to be disgorged. We appreciate your support and understanding! Congrat s! W e d like to congratulate James Zarling on his recent promotion to Assistant Tasting Room Floor Manager. James is a hard worker and very popular with visitors to the winery because of his bigger-than-life personality and outstanding customer service! Happy Birthday, Marcy! L ast but definitely not least we d like to share with you that Marcy turned 87 on March 18th. The family celebrated with a St. Patrick s themed party, and several of the grandkids enjoyed their first taste of corned beef and cabbage. Truthfully the younger ones mostly gravitated toward the cheeseburgers that Eli was barbecuing but everyone enjoyed the cake! We look forward to seeing many of you at Release Day and throughout the summer. 2

Great for its food friendly character, this Syrah is the perfect complement to just about anything you want to throw on the grill! Everly already says her daddy is #1!
