Perched high on a south-facing slope overlooking the beautiful Columbia River Gorge, the 32 year old vineyard basks in the hot summer sun, yet sees cool summer nights. The combination serves to ripen Gewurztraminer with good supporting acidity. The 2013 Celilo Gewurztraminer combines spicy stone fruits with citrus and mineral qualities. The 2012 vintage presented us an opportunity to produce a fourth batch of varietal Semillon one of our personal favorites for its delicacy and fruitiness. We pick em early... to keep the fruit crisp and clean and to keep the alcohol down. The result is our version of Semillon without oak or the broad waxy character of over-ripe fruit. For shellfish lovers like Bob, it s the ticket. Ethan, Santa Ynez Valley Grenache Blanc (2012) Grenache Blanc Appellation Santa Ynez Valley ETGB12 100% Grenache Blanc. Scholium Project, The Prince in His Caves Sauvignon Blanc (2014) Sauvignon Blanc Appellation Sonoma Mountain SCHPR % Sauvignon Blanc. Farina Vineyard, Sonoma Mountain. Winemaker: Abe Schoener. 120 cases produced. 100% Sauvignon Blanc from a rocky hillside on Sonoma Mountain; 100% destemmed into large wooden tank, skin-fermented for about a month with daily pump-overs; aged for 9 months in neutral barrels. For the first time since 2007, we made this skin-fermented wine 100% from berries, without stems, and with pump-overs only and no punchdowns. I had decided to employ the only method that we had ever used to make the Prince until 2008, namely to destem the fruit into a tank and pump it over during the fermentation. In 2007, this made a very powerful wine, dark, spicy, almost leathery. in 2008, the wine was lighter, but still very powerful. We expected the same thing in 2014, but instead got a wine that is in some ways quite new: a very subtle and elegant version of the Prince. I think that most of this difference is the nature of the vintage; or, to be quite precise, it is the consequence of the vintage (thin skins, subtle flavors) emphasized by the technique (more gentle extraction, no effect of stems). The wine will age as well as all versions do probably for as long as 20 years. But it will not change much. it does not have the initial savageness of most vintages; it has the sophistication of an aged wine from the beginning. Winemaker: Doug Margerum Nicolas Maillet, Mâcon-Verzé (2013) Burgundy, France Chardonnay Appellation Mâcon-Verzé NMMAC For his domaine wines of Macon-Verzé and Macon-Igé, he uses no wood for fermentation and aging. He wants to make wines of high minerality, bright acidity and purity. The unoaked Macon wines, with restricted yields, remain on the lees until bottling in July of the following year. They are made in a reductive manner allowing the chardonnay grape to express itself and age well. He is well known in the Maconnais for his low grape production of very concentrated, mineral wines. s: 100% Chardonnay. Vineyard: Macon-Verzé: 45 years of age. Soil: Very rocky of clay and limestone. Cambiata Winery, Santa Lucia Highlands Pinot Noir (2014) Pinot Noir Appellation Santa Lucia Highlands CAMPN14 36 (3cs) The fruit for our 2013 came from one of the oldest Pinot Noir vineyards in the Santa Lucia Highlands. There s something special about old vines that winemakers and viticulturists just love. Mature vineyards tend to self- regulate and their wines have a concentrated sappiness that is intellectually and hedonistically satisfying. I ve work with these senior citizens for 12 vintages and love the Pinots they produce. Let the Fruit Sing The fruit was hand harvested in the early morning hours and delivered to the winery cold. The grapes were crushed to tank and cold soaked for 48 hours before inoculating with a carefully selected strain of yeast. The grapes were pumped over three times a day and pressed as soon as fermentation was complete. The wine was then settled and aged in 100% French oak barrels (33% new). To preserve the delicacy of the fruit, we racked this Pinot only once prior to bottling. Taste Profile 2013 was a Goldilocks vintage not too hot, not too cold. It offered the mild growing conditions that bears and Pinot Noir vines love best. Our vineyard ripened on schedule without any sunburn or mold. The flavors were fully developed and the acids were balanced. It was a year that showcased the taste of the site as much as the personality of the variety. This 2013 is ripe and forward with oodles of black cherries topped with spicy clove and smoked paprika. The palate is full and rich and the underlying structure keeps the wine fresh and lively. Plowbuster, Willamette Valley Pinot Noir (2013) Oregon, United States Pinot Noir Appellation Willamette Valley PLOWPN (5cs) (10cs) % Pinot Noir. Willamette Valley. Winemaker: Mike Hallock. Ermacora, Schioppettino (2014) Friuli-Venezia Giulia, Italy Ribolla Nera Appellation Colli Orientali del Friuli ERMASCH14 48 (4cs) % Ribolla Nera. Stainless steel fermentation. Winemakers: Dario & Luciano Ermacora. Variety worked for centuries in the lands in between Italy and Slovenia, has received special attention in recent decades, during which time he gained a clearer identity. In the land of our company has found an ideal environment to give its best on the hills of Bressana, where it grows more than 25 years. The wine is elegant, with notes of blueberry, black currant and raspberry and a slight spiciness of green pepper. The taste is consistent with the aromas and has a hint of cinnamon. After a few years the tannins find the right balance and the taste has often the flavors of cherries in brandy. Schioppettino is an ideal match for grilled meats, lamb and wild boar.

Del Bondio-Bella Oaks & Yountmill-Block House Vineyards, Napa Valley. Barrel-aged for three-four years. Dolcetto is a delicious, medium bodied wine made with 100% Dolcetto grapes. It is the every day drinking varietal from the Piemonte region of northern Italy. The Dolcetto flavor profile, although often thought to be a sweet wine, is not a sweet wine. It is unique to its own flavor but lies somewhere between a Pinot Noir and a Zinfandel. The grapes are whole berry processed and they are then barrel aged for 3-4 years in 100% French Oak, 10% of which is from new French Oak barrels. As proprietor and winemaker, Rob Lawson, strives to integrate Napa Valley's climate and growing techniques and conditions with true Italian varietals. The Pelissa family propagated this old Torino clone at the University of California, Davis in Of the nine total acres of Dolcetto planted in the Napa Valley, all are under our management. It s a wine we love to make and drink. Clos Galena, Priorat Formiga de Vellut Galena (2013) Catalonia, Spain s Carignan, Grenache, Syrah Appellation Priorat LHFG (3cs) Formiga de Vellut is a wine with a cherry red color of medium intensity. This wine has a complex aroma, where stands the mature red fruits and peach, with slightly sweet and citrus notes. On the palate is full, fleshy and velvety, with a predominance of freshness, combined with some ripe tannins that give us a long and persistent wine. Winemaker: Fabrizio Nistri (3cs) Rivetti Massimo, Barbaresco Froi (2012) Piedmont, Italy Appellation Barbaresco RIVBFR Made from a result of a meticulous selection of hand picked Nebbiolo grapes, which comes from the best vineyards of the Froi farm, Serraboella and Rivetti. This is the traditional Barbaresco because it follows the Piedmontese tradition which includes the use of big barrels botte. Aging: It ages for 22 months in 25 hectoliter casks botte made of Slavonian oak, where it evolves, followed by refining in the bottle for about 6 months. Color: ruby red with garnet red highlights. Bouquet: ethereal with violet and licorice notes. The elevation, soil and unique climate in Lake County add to the complexity of this wine. Six Sigma, Diamond Mine Cuvée (2012) s Cabernet Sauvignon, Tempranillo, Syrah 6SCUV12 60 (5cs) % Cabernet Sauvignon, 46% Tempranillo, 8% Syrah. Six Sigma Ranch and a couple of their neighbors - 100% Lake County. 18 months in French oak (40% new). Winemaker: Matt Hughes. The grapes were sourced in part from a couple of neighbors, in part from the Diamond Mine Vineyard site on our ranch. This site is named for the Lake County Diamonds, small volcanic-made pieces of quartz that litter the ground and glimmer in the sunlight. The vineyard sits at 1,700 ft. elevation and is surrounded by an untouched landscape. It is naturally farmed meaning we use no pesticides and no herbicides. We also use a no-till approach to managing the vineyard floor with the goal of minimal input. Sheep graze in the vineyards helping us compost the permanent cover crop. The shallow, rocky, volcanic soils impart structure and minerality to this wine. The fruit for this wine was picked in forty-pound lugs and then hand-sorted, followed by a four day cold soaking prior to fermentation. The wine was then aged in sixty-gallon French oak barrels for 18 months. We lightly fined and filtered the wine before bottling. This is the first vintage of Diamond Mine Cuvée that has equal parts of Cabernet and Tempranillo. Awesome aromas of cherry, blackberry, and toasted coconut mingle with spices and volcanic terroir. The wine is full-bodied with graphite, leather, and baked plums revealed on the palate, which is framed by mountain tannins. This fantastic, every day, food-friendly red blend is perfect with grilled meats, pastas, BBQ, spicy sauces and soft cheeses.
